Larry Harbour Obituary

Larry Francis Harbour, devoted husband, Father, grandfather, died with his family by his side after complications from a surgery on 9/19/25.
Larry was born on June 29, 1940 in Onley, Texas. He was the 2nd of 4 boys born to Imogene and Brunie Harbour. His parents were both teachers and administrators (his Father) for over 50 years and moved around a great deal. Larry's early years were marked by several moves across small Texas towns for his Father's work before the family eventually settled in Rogers, Texas.
He graduated from Rogers High School, in Rogers Texas where he was known to be a star athlete, lettering in 4 major sports, Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track where he was All District and All Regional in FB, BB and BB. In Track, he was the high point man in the District Track meet 3 years in a row and the team won the District championship all 3 years. He won the Regional track meet in the Long Jump and High jump and went on to the state meet all 3 years. He was a 2-sport letter man in Football and track at Baylor from 1958-62 and was fortunate to be on 2 of the 3 only outdoor track championships in the history of Baylor. All 3 of these teams were inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Baylor in later years. He was very proud of playing in 2 Bowl games at Baylor, the 1960 Gator Bowl and the 1962 Gotham Bowl in NY.
His parents, being teachers, required Larry and his 3 Brothers to participate in many activities - if they wanted to participate in extra-curricular activities - including Boy Scouts, which Larry and his 3 Brothers all became Eagle Scouts.
After graduating from Baylor in 1962, Larry joined Exxon Corporation for 6.5 years and during his time, worked in real estate which became his life work for over 50+ years in the DFW area where he had tremendous success. In his various roles in the Commercial Real Estate industry, he was very proud of hiring and training over 300 individuals in the art of commercial real estate. Along with his success, he believed in giving back and helped in fundraising for the United Way for 11 years while at Henry S. Miller Company and Easter Seals for over 25 years while at C21, Judge Fite company.
He was a devoted Father to his 2 sons who were both athletic, by coaching both sons in soccer, basketball and baseball. He took great pride in helping not only his sons, but their many teammates, the art of sportsman ship and teamwork.
He also got involved with his sons in other activities, such as Larry was the first man PTA President of Skyview elementary school in Lake Highlands while his oldest son was in elementary school, serving 2 times as President and other offices through out both boys times in elementary and junior high school. He also served at President of the Lake Highlands Booster Club his oldest son's senior year in High School.
He also taught 3rd grade Sunday school at Wilshire Baptist Church for 11 years and was a Deacon at the Church. He was raised a Baptist for most of his life but became a Catholic when he met his loving wife Patricia and was a devoted Catholic for over 37 years.
He also got very involved in his neighborhood, by serving as President of the HOA in Pittman Creek Estates for 2 years. He and his wife Pat served on many other committees in their many years of living in Pittman Creek Estates. Larry is most proud of the joint tree planting partnership with the City of Plano where they planted 300 Red Oak and Ball cypress trees, most of which are now 40-50 feet tall and most of them still alive and well.
Larry is survived by the love of his life, wife Patricia. They enjoyed traveling over the many years of their life. Ireland being their favorite of all of their countries to visit.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Imogene and Brunie Harbour and his maternal Grand Mother Laura Hampton. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Patricia and our 2 children, Megan and her husband Mike, and Roger and his wife Shana, and 2 sons from a previous marriage Merk and his wife Lea and Boyd and his wife Jennifer. He is also survived by 6 beloved grandchildren, Katelyn, Will, Janie and her husband Michael, Harley, Luke and Max.
Larry touched the lives of many and his impact will continue to resonate for years to come. Whether supporting local causes, or offering a helping hand to those in need, his kindness and charitable spirit were truly exceptional.
A celebration of life for Larry will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074
