Larry Hilbelink

Sheboygan - Larry E. Hilbelink, 70, of Sheboygan, went home unexpectedly to be with his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2018.

Larry was born on March 3, 1948, in Sheboygan, son of Elmer and Pearl (Kappers) Hilbelink. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1966. Following graduation, Larry enlisted in the Army Reserve as a medic where he served for 6 years. On July 24, 1971, Larry married Nancy LaTarte at Hope Reformed Church in Sheboygan. He was employed at Ruesink Plumbing and Heating where he became a Master Plumber. In 1988, Larry started working at the City of Sheboygan and eventually became their Lead Building and Plumbing Inspector where he remained until he retired after 22 years.

Larry was an active member of the Sheboygan Evangelical Free church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Usher, teacher, helper in the children's ministry as well as various other ministries. He had a great love for his Lord and spent hours studying his Bible.

Larry was best known for his great sense of humor and ability to make everyone around him laugh. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, gardening and golfing. There wasn't a mechanical problem he couldn't fix and was always quick to help anyone in need. Larry's ultimate joy was spending time with his wife, children, and 8 grandchildren. There are many great memories of family times spent at the cottage where there was always good food, laughter, cards, fishing, and boating.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his two daughters, Kristen (Doug) Rice of Oostburg, Lisa (Tom) Dhein of Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah, Jacob, Ellie, Ben, Lucas, Lexi and Kiley, other relatives and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Pearl Hilbelink, his brothers Glen Hilbelink and Ron Hilbelink, and nephew, James Hilbelink.

The family would like to invite you to come and celebrate his life at the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church at 1710 North 15th Street, Sheboygan, on Monday, October 1 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. A private burial will be held at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland.

In lieu flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Larry's name for VCY America, Campus Life, and the Love In Action fund at the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church.
