Larry Wayne McDaniel

Larry Jacksonville, Florida Wayne McDaniel Larry Wayne McDaniel, 74, of Jacksonville, FL, formally of Whiteland, IN. passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Larry was born July 30, 1948 in Fort Knox, KY to Gladys McDaniel Machledt and Charles McDaniel.

Larry was raised in Johnson County and graduated from Whiteland High School in 1967. While in high school, Larry actively participated in various sports including basketball, baseball and football. It was his love for football that led him to his first career as a football coach.

Following obtaining his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University and a Master's Degree from Western Kentucky University, he began his career as a football coach. After years of coaching on a variety of levels including high school, college and professional, he hung up his coaching whistle for a career in insurance and retirement planning.

Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marsha (Corbin) McDaniel, and his daughters, Emily Freeman (Sean), Amy Reese (Adam) who presented him with two delightful granddaughters, Cricket and Sunny, and his son, Josh McDaniel. Also surviving is his brother Charles McDaniel (Karen), step brother John Machledt (Phyllis), and step sister Arden Gridley (Mike).

Larry was a quiet man who was dependable, devoted, and determined. He loved God and his family... and football.

A celebration of life will be held at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Ocala, FL. On Saturday, October 29 at 1:00. Weather permitting, the service will be held outside. In keeping with Larry's desire for informality and his love for college football, please feel free to wear your favorite team's attire. A tailgate cookout will be provided. In lieu of flowers the family request you honor Larry with a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project.
