Thinking of you Bing. Our hearts and prayers remain with you. -

I was so sad to know of Larry passing, even know he is in better place and with Lord now.
I'll always remember Larry's kindness acts. After Bing introduced me to Larry, he becomes my good friend instantly. Thinking of all the times we chatted at church or potluck dinners at my home around Thanksgiving holiday. Every time Larry visited my home, he always looked out something broken he can help to fix. One day I was surprised to see Larry and Bing brought their tools to my home and told me that they decided to replace my old wallpaper of dinner room area with new one. Larry carefully peeled off the old wallpaper, painted the wall after, then measured the new wallpaper precisely before cutting and put on. They spend almost whole day to get the job done. At other time, Larry saw the pole of my front porch was rotten at bottom part. One Saturday morning Larry and Bing brought the woods and other required parts from Home Depot and shown up at my driveway. He and Bing worked together to replace the bad pole with new wood he purchased, then paint the new wood pole with white color to match my front entry. I'll never forget those he took his times and his handyman skills to help me. He was a kindness and thoughtful man who lives in heaven with God now. May Larry Miller rest in peace!
Dear Bing, it´s in moments like these that words fall short. I hope you know how much love I have in my heart for Larry and you, and that you´re in my thoughts and my prayers always.
In loving memory,
Liming Cai

Larry was a beloved member of our small group from church. We all loved his stories of life in Missouri on the farm. He was a natural storyteller who had us hanging on every word. He had a wonderful laugh, too!

I was fortunate to meet Dr. Miller during his time as a Fulbright visiting professor at National Taiwan University while I was applying to graduate schools in the United States. His guidance, patience, and unwavering positivity were instrumental in helping me embark on my study-abroad journey at Ohio State University.
At my college graduation, Dr. Miller took the time to meet with my non-English speaking parents, easing their concerns about me studying abroad alone. Since then, he has become a dear friend to our family, and we hold him in the highest regard. We always looked forward to gathering with him during his visits to Taiwan. I was also fortunate to complete my PhD journey, which was inspired by Dr. Miller's influence.
I want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for the profound impact he had on my life. As an exceptional teacher, mentor, and family friend, his support shaped me in ways I will always cherish.
His kindness and wisdom inspired me to pursue my goals with confidence, and I am truly grateful for the time he dedicated to my growth and the invaluable lessons he shared.
Thank you, Dr. Miller, for being such a remarkable influence in my life. May you rest in peace, knowing that your legacy will continue to inspire me, and I will carry your memory in my heart always.
With heartfelt remembrance,

Eulogy for Dr. Miller
Dr. Miller was my third elder sister Shinshin Chen´s advisor during her studies at the Ohio State University (OSU) in the United States. Before going abroad for her studies, my sister was a young woman filled with dreams and passionate about her work but had also faced numerous setbacks.
More than four years she spent studying at OSU had an immeasurable impact on her life. Under the selfless guidance and resources provided by Dr. Miller and other professors, my sister thrived, growing into an educator who remains forever passionate and exceptionally courageous. The lasting influence of such a professor on students is the most profound and deeply moving I have ever seen.
Dr. Miller had many opportunities to come to Taiwan to lecture, and he even received a Fulbright Scholarship, serving as a visiting professor at National Taiwan University for a year. During that time, I had the occasional opportunity to meet with Dr. Miller. He was a man of few words, but his attitude toward people was always sincere and unpretentious. His teaching spirit was always focused and selfless, like a diamond shining eternally in the depths of a mine.
Hearing the news of his passing, I felt deep sorrow. Yet, though the wise have passed, their legacy lives on!
May Dr. Miller rest in peace!

I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Larry and his family. I first met Larry when he came to Virginia Tech as a faculty member in the Agricultural Education Program Area. He served on our faculty from 1972-1976. He was highly sought out for his expertise in research methodology and statistics. He also was a very effective and contributing faculty member in our department and helped us to gain a national reputation which resulted in helping to attract outstanding graduate students. I really missed him as he moved on to other institutions but was always in touch with him as he progressed in the field and to his international work. My thoughts and prayers will be with the family as they move through this most difficult time.

In Loving Memory of Dear Dr. Miller,
It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a man who profoundly touched our family-our mother´s (Shinshin Chen) mentor and advisor. He was not only a guiding light in her academic journey but also a deeply caring figure in the lives of both of us.
From the time we were young, he treated us with the same warmth and affection as he did our mother. He often inquired about our well-being, offering his support and wisdom whenever we faced challenges in our studies or in life. His generosity, intelligence, and kindness left a lasting impression on us.
He taught us the value of knowledge, the importance of empathy, and the courage to pursue our dreams. Though his passing fills us with great sorrow, his lessons and love will stay with us forever.
We will always remember him with deep gratitude, cherishing the way he touched our lives. May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to guide us toward a brighter future.

I first met Dr. Miller when he was a faculty member at Virginia Tech while I was an undergraduate student in Ag Ed. My first memory of him was when the Ag Ed faculty organized a softball game and picnic for the students near the Duck Pond. I thought it was pretty cool that the faculty did this for us and they could actually play softball! :-) Fast forward to my time as a high school Ag teacher in Virginia when Dr. Miller made several attempts to recruit me to a PhD program, first at Missouri and then at Ohio State. My wife, Susie, and I made the leap to grad school at Ohio State, where Larry served as the academic advisor for both of us. He invited us to his home numerous times and was great at helping us feel welcome at such a big university. He was the perfect academic advisor for me. We seemed to be in sync from the get-go, and I remain forever grateful for his guidance and mentorship. I referred to my notes and his handouts from his research methods course many times during my years as a faculty member. He was perhaps the most organized teacher I had ever seen! Larry and I enjoyed catching up at conferences during my early years as a faculty member at the University of Illinois. Susie and I offer our deepest sympathy to his family and hope their hearts will be warmed in knowing that Dr. Miller touched literally thousands of lives in his long and distinguished career. I know that our lives would be dramatically different had he not taken us under his wings.

It is with great sadness that we got to know of Dr Miller's passing. My husband and I were greatly impacted by him as our research supervisor and his kindness as a person. He welcomed us always as if he was our father, caring beyond expectations. My university, college and department academic staff have benefited immensely from international collaboration he participated in together with his college and departmental staff to improve our college staff teaching and internships. He will be greatly missed. RIP our beloved professor.

Dr. Larry Miller, who touched so many lives through his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his students, colleagues, and the academic community.
For me, Dr. Miller was more than just an advisor. He was a mentor, a guide, and a source of constant support throughout my academic journey. His presence shaped not only my professional growth but also my personal development. He had the rare ability to see the potential in others, even when we could not see it in ourselves. His belief in me was a gift I will carry with me forever.
Dr. Miller's approach to mentorship was patient, thoughtful, and generous. He never imposed his views but instead encouraged us to find our own paths, while quietly steering us in the right direction when we needed it. His office was always open, not just for academic discussions, but for the deeper conversations about life, challenges, and how to navigate the complexities of both.
In Dr. Miller, we saw the embodiment of true scholarship. He was a brilliant mind, passionate about his field, yet humble in his achievements. He was always seeking knowledge, yet never too busy to share it with others. He encouraged critical thinking, not just in research, but in how we approached life. His teachings went far beyond the pages of books or the confines of a classroom; they have left an indelible mark on all of us who had the privilege of learning from him.
His influence will continue to resonate through the many lives he has touched. Each of us carries a piece of his legacy-whether it is through the lessons he taught, the advice he gave, or the way he inspired us to be better versions of ourselves.
Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the life of a man who lived with purpose, integrity, and a deep commitment to nurturing the potential of others. We are all better for having known him.
Dr. Miller, your impact on our lives is profound, and your presence will be deeply missed. But your spirit will remain with us, guiding us as we move forward in our journeys, just as you always did.
Thank you, Dr. Miller, for everything. May you rest in peace.

My condolences to Larry´s family. He was my mentor and a true friend. Had it not been for Larry Miller serving as my undergraduate advisor at Virginia Tech in the mid-70´s, I would have likely changed majors and career paths. He continued to be a great friend and mentor/role model for me over the next 30-plus years throughout my career at three universities. He earned my respect and I shall never forget him. Rest in Peace, Larry. Randol G. Waters, Professor Emeritus, University of Tennessee.
