Larry Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2024.
Larry Neil Moore, 69, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 8, 1955 to Mary E. Moore (nee Jones) and Larry N. Moore, Larry's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication to family.

He was passionate about ministry and sharing the Word of God with others. He worked hard to provide for his family, often working swing shifts and nights for most of his career at BASF Corporation. In his spare time, Larry found joy in reading, sci-fi movies, and was an avid watcher of the news. Even in the face of illness, he never gave up hope and fought until the very end. Larry will be remembered for his compassionate heart, generosity, and enduring love for his family.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn Moore (nee Counts); their children, Michelle (Claude) Callahan, Corey (Laura) Moore, and Sarah Moore; grandchildren Kasia, Kyle, Nathaniel, Taylor, Savannah, Andrew, Tyler, Leah, Noah, and Annamarie; great-grandchildren Isaac Jude, Kennedy, Nariah, and Ezra; and his brother, Wayne (Karla) Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Neil Moore.

I first met Larry when he was 15. My husband and I lived in a small apartment with our baby son behind the corner grill on s. 17th and Washington Ave in lorain Ohio. We held a small Christian fellowship in our apartment a couple times a week. Larry knew my husband Jim and came to check it out. I remember opening the door, and this tall young man coming into our kitchen . His voice was soft ,his smile sweet and genuine. I knew he was truly happy to meet me as I was to meet him. That was over 50 years ago and sometimes years would pass before we would see each other again. But when we did,he was always happy to see me with a big hug and that sweet smile. It was a sweet gift of grace. And I am so thankful. Much love to his precious family.

My father-in-law was such a wonderful example of how a strong man can have such a gentle heart. I am thankful to see this kind heart in my husband and two sons. We will miss you Dad!

Hi this is Micah. I hate having to write this. I'd hoped you would live but sadly you did not "sigh". I loved helping you but now I can't. Also it isn't that I don't want to write. It hurts my heart to write this. You were funny and nice. Mom said most kids were scared of him when she was little. I was never afraid of you I will beat the game! You are my great uncle but you feel like my grandpa! When I get to you again and you need help on the game I will help you. Your friend the Game Wizard, like you called me!

So long to my favorite brother-in-law, truely the only one I ever liked or respected. He taught me God.
My friend Renea, her husband, my husband, and Larry were all friends from high school, I was the outsider. When we all went out together and played pool, Renea and I watched. Under the guise of "girls will be girls" we would whisper to each other how handsome Larry was. When he bent over the pool table we whispered about what a nice butt he had and giggled.
During that time, my younger sister was hospitalized and possibly expected to die. I went to Larry and asked him to pray for her. To my surprise, he showed up at the hospital and went to her bed while she lay unconscious. When he emerged from her room, he looked me in the eyes and said, I'm going to marry that girl"! And he did ...
Later on in life I had a C-section and was unable to lift my head from the pillow for 3 weeks. The two of them took me in and cared for me and my newborn without expecting anything in return.
As all couples do, they had issues . Thus, experienced a short separation for less than a year. But taking that year out, they spent 48 years of marriage together. From that love came 3 children, 10 grandkids, and 3 stunning great grandchildren.
He has sacrificed for all of us! Although we miss you greatly, forever in our hearts you shall live ...

Larry lived next door to me growing up. Best friends as children. Same age & same grade in school. Always over each others houses for sleep overs, games of chess, or just hanging out. Although we drifted apart later on & I moved away as a young adult he would stop in to visit my mother & check on her until she too moved away. Larry holds fond memories for me from a childhood long ago. Condolences to his family. Craig Speck-San Diego

Dearest family of my brother Larry Moore. This is Michele Abraham and I feel I represent all the many beloved brethren who knew him as a very young man when he found the Lord Jesus Christ. I know Larry was loved by everyone. He was kind, always generous with his time and care for others. I see his life as an example of faithfulness and enduring love and compassion.
As his family you should be very proud of him because his memory of being a good man will never die.
May God bless you all and keep you in these hours of sorrow and loss. He will be missed by all of us who knew and loved and respected him. Your friend and sister, Michele
