Larry Victor Pannier, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Larry was born on May 28, 1948 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Joy and Victor Pannier. He was the second born of seven children. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church the following month by his grandpa, Rev E.J. Zanow. From a young age, he had a ball in his hand, loved baseball like his father. He was the team pitcher in grade school and involved in 4-H. Larry loved being active, playing sports, sleigh riding, hiking, and bicycling. He liked being mischievous with his sisters, too, causing mayhem at times. As a farm kid, he had lots of chores, but was able to enjoy roaming the field and woods. He was a nature lover from early on. He loved to visit his boy cousins so he could get some boy time away from his sisters.
Larry was an excellent student, and loved literature and math. He attended elementary school at St. Johns Lutheran and graduated from Concordia Seminary High School with honors in 1966. At that point he decided not to further his education to become a pastor. He moved to El Cajon, California in 1968 to live with his Uncle Harold.
In 1979, he graduated from California State University Fullerton with a degree in Accounting. He was married to Patricia Pannier for 6 Years and their much loved son, Aaron, was born into their lives. He worked for many large accounting companies before becoming a Senior Business Analyst and CPA for 30 years at Los Rios Community College District in Sacramento, CA. After he retired in 2014, he moved to
Yuma, AZ (the winter vegetable capitol of the world) where he enjoyed many days of sunshine, time by the pool, and hot summers. But the biggest reason he moved was to be only a few hours away from his grandkids.
Larry's early interests stayed with him throughout his life. He loved taking roadtrips with his son Aaron and family to visit national parks and had an appreciation for the outdoors. He bicycled and played tennis, racket ball, and squash. He enjoyed watching sports on the television, working in his yard, banking, and spending time with his family. Larry was active in his local Church. He not only assisting with the weekly bulletins, but also helped teach financial classes, using his accounting background to assist his Church community.
He was a wonderful Papa to his four grand-children and had a knack for researching the perfect present and teaching the grandkids to break the rules (sometimes). He was a kid at heart, and could be found sitting in the kiddie pool or at the kid table. He loved to tell jokes, tease, play board games, and do anything to make his grandkids happy. He was loved dearly and will be missed tremendously.
Larry is survived by his son Aaron Pannier, daughter-in-law, Catherine, and four grandchildren Bethany, Wyatt, Wesley, and Gabrielle; six siblings Judith (Vincent) Strack, Linda Teunissen, Sue (Howard) Gensch, Christi (Charles) Crowe, Allen (Annette) Pannier, and Paul Pannier; nieces and nephews Sonja (Philip Mastriforte) Saleki, Chad (Tara) Strack, Quintin (Bryce Whiting) Strack, Sarah (Lawrence) Anderson, Todd (Traci) Vorpahl, Toby (Karen) Vorpahl, Corey (Kristie) Gensch, Rachel (Tim) Buda, Brian (Yuri) Crowe, Adam Pannier, Eric (Alesha) Pannier, Luke Pannier, and Jacob, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and loving friends.
