Larry Ropa Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 5, 2025.
Larry Alan Ropa passed peacefully with the love of his life, Marge, by his side on August 22nd, 2024 after a battle with heart issues since childhood. Born on Feburary 26, 1950 in Ft. Wayne Indiana to Richard and Phyllis Ropa, Larry and his family relocated to the beautiful town of Portola Valley, CA. Exceptionally close with his Dad, Larry cultivated shared interests in everything from woodworking to auto repair. He developed a special love of Ford Mustangs, collecting fire trucks and priceless marbles. After attending the University of Washington, he returned to California to work at Marine World where he met his best friend and love of his life, Marge (Gawley). They eventually moved to Yachats, Oregon where Larry's walks by the ocean collecting agates brought immense peace. While they had no children, their lives were filled with love and laughter and many memories with extended family and friends. Larry is survived by his wife Marge, fondly referred to as Rose Petal, his sisters Sandra Lithgow (William) and Rebecca Ropa, his sisters-in-law Kathryn Stearns, Michelle Hayes (Greg) and Janet Gawley. He is also survived by his nephews and niece, and their families, who will carry on his passions and continue to share his stories for years to come. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Andrew J. Gawley.
