Larry alan Sizemore

Larry Alan Sizemore, age 66, passed away on Thursday February 16th at the Baylor Cancer Center with his daughters by his side. He was born September 2nd 1950 in Dallas, Texas to Marvin and Agnes Sizemore and was the youngest of seven children. Larry attended Garland High School and graduated in 1968. He was one of the early members of what started as a homegrown bunch of misfits and hippies trying to make a living working with rock tours around the region, then the country, and then around the world. That group was Showco, which is where Larry found a home as a lighting designer beginning in 1974. He toured the world and worked with such acts as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, followed by Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Madonna, and ZZ Top, to name a few. In 1985, he was back in Dallas hanging out with friends at the Greenville Avenue Country Club and met a waitress from Italy named Cristina. They fell for each other and in 1987 Cristina and Larry married and later had 2 daughters, Andrea and Emily. He stopped touring in 1993 to spend more time with his family, describing it as the best decision of his life, and worked at Starplex Amphitheater and later formed his own Production Personnel Services company where he supplied staffing for local events. Larry loved to play poker and golf with his friends. He fought hard against cancer for 7 years, always keeping his sense of humor. Larry was a great husband, father, and friend, always funny and caring. Every one of his old friends have said that he was always supportive and a mentor to those he brought into the business; he was a legend. His smile and laugh will be greatly missed. Larry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria Cristina Sizemore. He is survived by his sister, Linda Gaden, and his daughters, Andrea and Emily Sizemore, and many of his dearest friends.
