I knew Larry when we both attended St. Mary's School in 1955-56. The best memory I have of Larry was him in his red hooded jacket pretending to be a nun. He was so sweet and kind. The last time I saw Larry was in 1959 before my mother took my brother and I to California. Larry will always be in my heart even though I never saw him again, and just found out by chance while visiting Houlton Cemetery where my family is buried. My grandmother was Gertrude McMonigle.

I knew Larry when we went to UMA together and then worked together for many years in Gardiner and Augusta. Oh, the stories that I could tell. He will forever be in my heart. The Sisters of Mercy will certainly miss his presence as will many, many others. I hope that there is a big blue car with tail fins and wide back seat for Cappy just for you in Heaven. God bless you, Larry. There was only one.

What a wonderful person he was. I call him my hero. The doctors were not listening to me or my husband. Larry was the nurse on duty that night and made things happen to send my husband to Portland. My husband had a stroke and Larry knew it. It saved my husband's life by sending him to Portland. RIP Larry you will be missed. You were so special to us. Dotty Hinckley

Our thoughts and prayers to the Toner family. You were so lucky to have such an extraordinary brother. Every time he came to see us, no matter how bad he was feeling there was always that smile and he was always so appreciative. And he made the best date bars ever. Larry was my friend and neighbor over 30 years ago, he was kind, intelligent, funny, even though we only exchanged cards once a year, I will never forget him. I hope he is with his Beloved Saint Bernard, Cappy. My condolences to the Toner family.

My heartfelt sympathies to Larry's family and to the nuns at the Sisters of Mercy. He was a gentle soul who raised above all his physical handicaps no matter what came his way and still had a smile on his face. I will miss my friend Larry at the 4:00 o'clock Mass at St. Joseph and I know several others who will miss him also. God Bless his soul.
