In loving memory of a wonderful person . We will love you and miss you always. We know that children are a gift from God on loan for a little while. Our greatest comfort is to know that God is in control. Tootie you are in a place of "no more"-no more pain, sorrow, tears and sickness. Life with God will be better by far.

January 1, 2011

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

It has taken me some time to write in this guest book because I just can't believe she's not here anymore. I had the priviledge of meet Ms. Boyd about 9 weeks and what an impact she has made on my life. She was a very sweet woman that never complained about anything. She smiled and spoke softly which is why the entire class was in shock when we learned of her death. I am raising two young ladies and if they grow to be anything like Ms. Boyd was, I will be completed satisfied... We miss and love you alot... You were taken so soon from our lives but we are truly blessed to have known you the time we did and not one minute would be traded... God has surely gained an angel. Rest in peace Ms. Boyd, suffer no more!

Joan and the Boyd family,
LaShun was like a daughter to me. We fought our first battle together and then teamed up a few weeks ago to start a new battle. We compared notes about our scans, meds, and doctors. She felt that she was supposed to take care of me because she was younger.Tootie received the 1st survivor blanket in our support group. Her smile was contagious and she was instrumental in Sisters In Support hosting the planning session in 2007 for the La.Coalition of African American Breast Cancer Survivors state meeting.
I will miss my e-mails and my updated pics of Chandler. It is like losing another child again in just 2 years.
I will miss you Tootie but I know that you are in God's hands now and he will do what the doctors could not do here on earth.
Joan, sisters, and friend Tasha, please know that I am here when or if you need or want to talk.

Continous prayers for you,
Wanda H.Brooks,

To the Boyd Family,

You all are such a loving family and I am blessed to have known Lashun which allowed me to meet you all. May God continue to sustain and comfort each of you in the days to come. I pray for strength and guidance as you train Chandler in the ways of God, as you did with your beautiful daughter Lashun. Meeting her over fifteen years ago and seeing the loving person that she was then and continued to be as we became more than acquaintances but Sorors and friends, has left a mark that will never be erased.

With Love,

Although you are gone, I shall not say goodbye,
Although I shall not see you any more, I shall not cry.
Even though you are gone, I shall not fear,
As I know in my heart you will always be near.

I shall not say goodbye, as goodbye means the end,
And you have not left us, my mother, our friend.

For when the next time comes that I will need you,
I shall know where to look.
I shall look everywhere you are,
In the pieces of you that are left behind.

As you are here in each of us,
In different ways you have moved us all.
You have taught us, your children, to love and be kind,
And you showed all others your compassionate side.
All our memories we have of you are kind,
They’re locked in our thoughts,
Keeping you in our minds.

And as long as you are in our thoughts,
As long as there is love and kindness around,
We will think of you, our friend, our mum.

So on this sad day, I shall not say goodbye
Because you are here,
And will never go away.

So I bid you farewell, for someday,
We shall meet again.

Rest in Peace Tootie i love and miss you.

To the family of our dear, beloved Soror:

Words cannot express what I feel right now. I only know that God makes no mistakes. Sometimes he has to take a flower from our midst for us to continue the journey to peace.

LaShun was a beautiful part of our sisterhood and a blessing for all who were encouraged by her smile. Always so poised and energetic, she would work with us in the evenings at Dillard's (Pierre Bossier) after having been at work all day and brighten the store up with her positive attitude. I realize how valuable life is and I will always cherish the times we shared and the love we both have for AKA.

Be comforted in knowing that God will get you though the pain that you are feeling. I know that LaShun is smiling with her wings flowing and wanting us to enjoy the beautiful impression that she left on all of us. She has shown me that no matter what you go through in life, continue to smile and remain effervescent. LaShun was such a wonderful person. I am comforted in knowing that she is with our Father continuing to illuminate that exuberant smile that will comfort us all.
