Laura HAGGERTY Obituary
May 4, 1926 – July 19, 2015
After a lengthy illness, Doreen passed away quietly at the May Court Hospice with her daughter by her side. Doreen is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jim Haggerty; her daughters Marsha Lawson (Ron) and Maureen McKinnon; her granddaughters Kristen Lawson (Jason) and Cheryl Hooper (Brad); her great-grandsons Aiden and Jacob and numerous family members. Doreen was predeceased by her parents Laura and Walter Armstrong, sisters Madeline MacNaughton and Dorothy Mitchell and brother Evan Armstrong. The family would like to thank the residents and staff at Valley Stream Manor, the staff of Carefore, At Home Hospice, CCAC and May Court Hospice for their love, support and care over the last ten months. Also special thanks to all those members of our family who have been on this journey with us. The family also extend their appreciation to Bruce, Shaun, Jon, Patricia, and the A Team at Valley Stream Manor - Catherine, Mang, Sam, Virgina, Katie, Miles, Tierri, Adela, Gerry, Mimi, Rachel, Sarah, Sabina - Stacey who takes good care of Jim, Maurice who takes care of everyone. Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Tuesday, July 21 from 1 p.m. until time of the Service in the Pinecrest Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Burial and Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or the May Court Hospice. Online condolences may be made at

Doreen was a beautiful person, and I feel privileged to have known her in her last few months on earth. She was gentle, kind and polite to everyone who came to help her. I have no doubt she is watching over Jim and the family, keeping them safe.

Dearest Jim, Marsha and Maureen;
I mourn with you as you say your goodbyes to Aunt Doreen. She was a treasured link to my mother and I was so very fortunate to have her in my life. Our memories will carry their legacies forward. Your unwavering, loving support for Doreen's comfort during her finally journey was the most difficult experience but now a memory you can comfort yourselves with. So many folks clearly, cared deeply for her. She was so very worthy of all that love and caring. A wonderful woman I was honoured to call MY Aunt.
