I used to hear The Dixie Chicks at Trinity Presbyterian Church at their Sunday evening coffeehouse. They were fantastic and all wonderful women.

I had the privilege (and I do mean privilege) of teaching Laurie as an eighth grader in Dell City, Texas. She was full of curiosity and vitality and was a joy to have in class. Also, at her request, I tried to teach her to play tennis (it was not my forte to coach, but we had a lot of laughs.) I even gave her a golf lesson or two. Needless to say, I have fond memories of Laurie, as well as of Erin and Kitty, and I was very shocked and dismayed to read of her passing.

Our family is so sad for your loss. We are newer to Dell City but got to know her and see first hand how much she cared for her community. Laura devoted her time and energy, sacrificed for something important to her and left a lasting legacy. My most recent memory is her making the Hudspeth Co fair happen, as always doing good in Dell City. Christian Ninaud and family, Austin & Dell City Tx.

My sincere condolences to the family. I always hoped that one day I would be able to play with Laura and the Chicks, but it did not happen. Thanks for the great songs and unique vocals that turned the.world on end. You left this world too early, but I will see you again, and we can jam.

I never got to meet her but she was at a local event after the Dixie Chicks and a friend told me about her. She did pretty well after she was no longer a Dixie Chick and what a beautiful voice she had.
