Laura Mendez Obituary
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Rodolfo and Graciela Mendez.
She is survived by her mother, Blanca Mendez. Uncles, Rodolfo Mendez, Ove Garcia. Numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Laura graduated from Med High School, Class of 2002 in Mercedes, Texas. She also attended South Texas College and Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas.
She was an avid basketball and tennis fan. Her favorite basketball team was the San Antonio Spurs. Laura had a great love for animals. Her pets meant the world to her.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 beginning at 5 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m., with recitation of the holy rosary to begin at 7 p.m., at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel. Services will conclude with a Mass to be held on Friday, January 22, 2016. At 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Harlingen, Texas.

I am saddened to hear about my old friends passing. We met online in 2001. Even though we never met in person we used to talk on the phone all the time and chat online for hours. Over the years we lost touch , but you will always hold a special place in my heart. I will miss you my friend:(

Laura and I met online in 2001. I had the pleasure of getting to meet her in person, along with her mother. Even though we grew apart throughout the years and I didn't find out about her death until well over a year after the fact, I'm so grateful that I had the chance to know her. She was one of the sweetest, most sincere friends. You're missed, Goo.

My heart hurts so much hearing that you passed. I'm going to miss your hilarious commentary on everything from tennis, to Spurs, to our favorite shows like Homeland. Maybe "Quarrie" happens and you'll meet Tim, Tony, Manu, and Pop sometime. I can't wait to hear you fangirl'ing again. I miss you.
We never formally met, but that doesn't matter. You touched my life such a positive way. I can't wait to speak with you again.

Even tho we never met, we probably spend thousands of hours chatting online about TnT and I still have all the baby pictures you sent me and I know you still have the hello kitty necklace that I mailed over. I just found out today and I am so shocked and sorry for your family's loss.
I miss you very much already and may you never be apart from Blackie again.

I never met Laura, but knew her via tennis fans online. She was always so kind, and would keep me up-to-date on anything regarding our favorite players, and I would mail her DVD's of her matches for her to keep. I am so so sorry to hear of this, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time. She was truly a kind soul and great person, and may god bless her and everyone in her friends and family during this time.

My Condolences for your loss. Although I did not know her, I know she was a wonderful person. It saddens me when people in general pass away at a very young age. I pray that God will give you all the strength and comfort to deal with the loss of a loved one who will be dearly missed.

Laura was in my life since elementary school. We grew up on the same road and I happily remember doing a science project with her. She made me laugh since then as we went to the same junior high and high school. Laura was very bright and funny and I was blessed by her presence in my life. I wish her much peace and send love to her family.
