WAREHAM -- Laura C. "Lola" Russell, 95, died Sunday, November 19th at the Forestview Nursing Home in Wareham. She was the wife of the late Grant D. Russell.
Born in Buzzards Bay, the daughter of the late Sam & Louise (Garcia) Corey, Mrs. Russell was a long time resident of Wareham. She worked seasonally as a screener for Ocean Spray for 30 years and was former manager of the Cape Verdean Club in Falmouth.
Mrs. Russell was a member of the Dudley L. Brown V.F.W. Post # 2846 Ladies Auxiliary, the Knights of Columbus Council # 2911 Women's Association, the D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary and was an active member in the Cape Verde Islands Relief Assoc. of Wareham.
She is survived by six daughters, Jeanette Santos and Minnie Roderick of Wareham, Martha Jane Alexander of Fall River, Diana Semedo of New Bedford, Bernadine Smith of Providence, RI and Barbara Munson of Sacramento, CA; five sons, Gerald Fernandes of Boston, Leroy Russell of Wareham, Ervin "Tootsie" Russell, Barry Russell and Joseph Ramos all of E. Wareham; 32 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Loretta Alves; a son, Gerald Lopes; four sisters, Fannie Fernandes, Matilda Fernandes, Elvira Garcia and Annie Sneed and a brother, John Garcia.
Funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Sat., Nov. 25 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 82 High St., Wareham at 10 AM. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Fri. from 5 "" 9 PM.
