SHOWERS, Laura LAURA THRASHER SHOWERS Laura Thrasher Showers Born on June 15, 1912 in Covington, GA to Willie and Hattie Thrasher and was one of 12 siblings. God called her to peaceful rest on July 8, 2008. Preceding her in death husband, Tommie Lee Showers, parents, Willie and Hattie Thrasher, sisters, Mary Lou, Eularia, Fannie, Ruby and Nellie, brothers, Willie, Homer, Herman and Robert, sons, Ralph and Gilbert. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Betty Barksdale, her daughter and son-in-law, Tommie Ann and George Atkinson, daughter-in-law, Evelyn Barksdale, sister, Georgia Peek, brother, Gilbert Thrasher, 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd., NE, Atlanta, GA 30345. 404-728-1181. Memorial Service will be held on TODAY, Friday, July 11, 2008, 11AM in our Cascade Chapel.
