Laura Stoltenberg

Funeral services for Laura Stoltenberg will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at the First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with Pastor Loel Wessel officiating. Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Laura Stoltenberg, 87, of Spring Valley, passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at the Spring Valley Care Center. Her wish was granted — to be with the Lord on Christmas.

Laura Martha Haack was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Gurley, Neb., to Hugo and Anna (Schwartz) Haack. On March 2, 1928, Laura was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran in Potter, Neb., and confirmed on March 29, 1942. She attended school through the eighth grade. On Feb. 8, 1947, Laura was united in marriage to Philip Stoltenberg in Stewartville. Laura enjoyed sewing, family history and church history, and loved taking pictures.

Laura is survived by her husband, Philip, of Spring Valley; children, Darlene (Gene) Merkel, of Spring Valley, Kathy (Steve) Bernard, of Kennewick, Wash., Kim (Pam) Stoltenberg, of Stewartville, and Lynne Stoltenberg, of Pine Island; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and brothers, Henry Haack, of Pharr, Texas, and Dennis (Darlene) Haack, of Rochester.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Huge and Anna; son, Daryl, in 1994; brothers, Berdell and Marvin Haack; and sister, Catherine Benke.
