Laura Stone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.
Laura Stone, 41, from Franklin County, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Laura will be forever loved and remembered by many, including her parents, Donna and Michael, siblings, Lindsey and Dillon (Grace), grandparents, Harold and Bernice, nieces and nephew, along with her close extended family, friends, work family, and church community. She made a difference in each of their lives with her smart sense of humor, inner strength, and a deeply caring heart.

Laura devoted her compassion and time to the pets she cared for as a veterinary technician, as she helped rehabilitate animals she loved like they were her own for nearly 20 years. The pets she cared for, and their families, grew to be like family to Laura, too. Her own pets, Remington and Chowder, were adopted with medical conditions that Laura was committed to helping them through. She would have rescued every animal she saw in need if she had the space.

Laura believed the best of everyone she met. She never treated her time like it was limited, giving freely any help she could to those who crossed her path. She always answered the phone, even if she only had a moment to check that you were ok before she could call you back. Her jokes were perfectly timed and could lighten the mood instantly. Laura loved to camp, go fishing and kayaking, preserve foods from local farms, complete homesteading projects, and find homes for rescue animals. We can continue making a difference in her honor through simple, compassionate living and the support of local farms and animal shelters.

Though she had many struggles with her health over the years, Laura remained strong and positive, facing every hurdle with hope in her heart. She would say that God forgot to include any "give up" when He made her. Laura was a transplant recipient nearly three years ago. For the gift of that time, we are forever grateful to the organ donor along with his family and friends. Please consider being an organ donor to one day make that difference of time for another family. Her medical team at OSU, especially Dr. Diaz, Dr. Choi, and the nursing team, made a huge difference in her journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, starting at 4pm at the Kokosing Nature Preserve Reception Center located at 10608 Quarry Chapel Road, Gambier, OH 43022. Family and friends are welcome.

We would love to read any anecdotes or memories about Laura which may be sent to [email protected]. Ongoing stories will help support us, so send them as they come to you now or in the future. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to your local animal rescue in honor of her. Laura will be held close in the hearts of those who knew her forever.

My heart goes out to Laura´s family for a daughter/sister who was taken too soon. Laura was an amazing young woman and I enjoyed her personality and sense of humor. Much love to the family during this difficult time.

I only remember a few rare occasions where I spent time with Laura growing up. But she always had a smile on her face and a kind warmth about her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and I hope she is resting easy

Warren and I were so fortunate to have known Laura for over 10 years. She was a wonderful caregiver for all of our Pets. She helped our Sable & Ginger when they were paralyzed. Ginger is strong & healthy today in part because of Laura´s exceptional care. We are truly missing her strong spirit! She was one of a kind! Our thoughts & prayers are with you all!
