Laura Strait Obituary
Laura was a pioneer in educating autistic children at Avondale schools impacting many during her years of service. She retired from Avondale schools and continued teaching Early Childhood Development at Baker College until 2015. Laura also had a passion for music that she passed on to her son Ryan, herself playing both piano and violin.
Laura is survived by her son Ryan Monaghan (Jessica Milner). Mother Frances Gray. Brother Bill Strait. Sisters Ann Larimer and Connie Strait. Dearest friend for so many years Dawn (Randy) Wyatt.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have many good memories of my time with Laurie, she was a loving and spiritual person and she will be missed. I know that she is happy and with her Jesus. Susan Taggat

I have no words. I am so deeply devastated. My daughter was in her PPI program at Avondale Schools for three years. Laurie was amazing! She made us feel welcome and comfortable. She was empathetic, loving, kind and encouraging both to our daughter and to us, her parents. I give credit for a lot of our daughter's growth to Laurie for her early intervention. She was truly an amazing person that made a huge impact on our lives. My heart is broken. Sending prayers for her son and her family. She was truly one of a kind.

Much light and love to your family. I was a student of hers years ago at Baker College and LOVED her class. Her open thought to spirituality made everyone feel welcome. She made learning fun. Forever thank you dear teacher Laurie!
