Neil, I heard only yesterday of Laura’s passing and I’m sorry I was not able to attend the service. Laura and I worked together frequently at SFU but I have been out of touch for quite a while now. Words cannot express my shock and disbelief that she is actually gone. Laura was a smart and vibrant woman and I will remember fondly the times we spent studying together.

You are in my prayers…

Laura was an inspiration to those of us who knew her through her stitching website, her blog, and her wonderful posts on various stitching bulletin boards. I never had the pleasure of meeting her face to face, but her radiance, wit, and intelligence came through in her writing. My heart goes out to her family and friends. You have my deepest, heartfelt sympathy.

It still seems so unreal that someone so young has gone so soon, but I guess there's some angels up there who need Laura's help to improve their stitching technique! I had the privilege of meeting and being hosted by Laura when I visited Vancouver three years ago. It was a fun afternoon spent in the company of a number of stitchers at Laura and Neil's home. My sincere condolences to the Leigh and Watkiss families - may time bring you the comfort that you seek, and that words cannot adequately express.
