Laura Anne Zellmer

Laura Anne Zellmer passed away peacefully at her home in Moraga, California, on July 28, 2025. Known for her radiant personality, and infectious laugh, Laura brought joy and warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born on December 12, 1973, in Flushing, New York, Laura was the second daughter of Anne and Martin Cryan. She was a devoted wife to Kevin, a loving mother to Everett, a cherished sister to Kate ( Gabe Sinkin) and Joanna (Ben Aiken), a beloved aunt, niece, cousin, and a dear friend to many.

Laura was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at a young age. While the disease shaped many aspects of her life, it never defined her spirit. Her mother, Anne, was her tireless advocate, spending countless hours administering treatments, researching advancements, and ensuring Laura had every opportunity to thrive.

Recognizing that the New York climate wasn't ideal for Laura's health, the Cryan family relocated to California, eventually settling in Moraga. It was there that Laura found a true community, one that would remain a source of support and strength throughout her life.

Laura's determination to live fully was evident from the start. She refused to let anything hold her back, participating in activities once thought unlikely for someone with CF-cheerleading, basketball, softball, and swimming. She tackled each challenge with resilience and joy.

After graduating from Campolindo High School, Laura attended the University of California, San Diego, where she majored in Political Science. She made lifelong friends, studied abroad in Spain, and explored Europe, embracing every experience.

Post-college, Laura joined the Sheraton Hotel Management Program, a path that led her to Santiago, Chile. She treasured the culture, adventure, and friendships she gained there.

Eventually returning to San Francisco, Laura began working at the Marines' Memorial Club in catering and event sales. She was especially moved by the events honoring military service members and was inspired by their strength, optimism, and stories.

It was in San Francisco that Laura met Kevin at a birthday party at Kell's Bar. Surrounded by friends, their connection was instant. At the end of the night, Laura took Kevin's phone, entered her number, and said, "You will call me." She was right-21 years of marriage followed.

Together, Laura and Kevin traveled often, but the most meaningful journey began with the birth of their son, Everett. Becoming a mother was Laura's greatest joy. Her love and devotion were beautifully captured in the documentary Breathe In Life, created with her close friend and filmmaker, Amy Janes.

Behind the scenes, Laura continued her daily battle with Cystic Fibrosis, dedicating hours each day to treatment and care. Despite the hardship, she lived boldly, laughed freely, and loved deeply.

In honor of Laura's legacy, and in-lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Strong and Salty (Strongandsalty.org), a foundation Laura and Kevin started to fund research for Cystic Fibrosis and lung transplants.
