Lauren Coffey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 30, 2023.
Lauren Elyse (Levenson) Coffey passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas, on July 16, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving parents, sister, husband, aunt, and uncle. She was just a month beyond her 38th birthday, taken from us far too soon by breast cancer.

Lauren was born in Berkeley, California, on June 15, 1985, to Kathy and Corey Levenson. The family moved to San Antonio, Texas, in 1996. Lauren adapted quickly, becoming a Spurs fan and later graduating from Clark High School. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Southwestern University and a Master of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies from UT Medical Branch at Galveston. She married Grant Coffey on February 10, 2018.

Lauren took pride in her work as a PA and her patients loved her thoughtful and caring approach. An animal lover through and through, Lauren had a lifelong passion for horses and rode throughout her youth in California and Texas. She was a talented equestrian, known to defy gravity and stop her mother's heart as she soared over jumps. Lauren was always close with her small, but mighty, family most of whom lived in Austin and San Antonio. She enjoyed spending time with them and with her devoted husband, Grant. She especially cherished time with her cousin Edie, born in 2012, and attending "cousin dinners" hosted by her Aunt Jenee and Uncle Rob.

Lauren was very fortunate to have found the love of her life in Grant and, a few years later, their beloved rescue dog, Rocky, who lived like a king ever since finding his forever home. Grant often joked he played second fiddle to Rocky, but Lauren's heart had more than enough love to go around. Grant never let a day pass where Lauren didn't know she was his kind of perfect.

Lauren was brilliant, beautiful, compassionate, and very strong-willed. She had a radiant smile and a giggle that was nothing short of infectious. Although being a PA was her true calling, Lauren was also a professional eye-roller, deploying her honey-colored eyes with precision. She enjoyed the finer things in life, a nice glass of chilled white wine, and the best reality television programming Bravo and HGTV had to offer. She was infinitely special and will be missed beyond measure.

Lauren is survived by her husband Grant, her parents Kathy and Corey, her sister Maia, aunt and uncle Jenee and Rob Ovitt, cousin Edie, her dog Rocky, and many other family and friends who all adored her. Her beautiful spirit will be celebrated on August 12, 2023, at 11am at Tiny T Ranch, 3409 Caldwell Lane, Del Valle, Texas 78617. Children are welcome, as is colorful attire. Please dress comfortably. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrf.org) or METAvivor (www.metavivor.org).

I had the privilege of working with Lauren, my favorite provider to collaborate with. Being around her never felt like work-we shared so many laughs, could communicate with just a glance, and always enjoyed sharing sweet treats together. I miss her dearly and will forever be grateful for the time we spent together.

Sincere condolences to all of Lauren's family and friends. Lauren was such an intelligent, empathic, sweet presence, and she helped so many people. If love alone could have kept her here, she would live forever. But she will live forever in the hearts of every person who knew her. She is an angel we know. All my love to the family during this time and forever.

My condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Lauren at our orthopedic clinic. She was our PA for the upper extremity hand surgeon. We shared laughs and just spent time getting to know each other. She will be deeply missed and I am just saddened by this news. God bless her whole family and friends and everyone that had the blessing of knowing her!

Grant, you are one of the finest men I know. While I never got to meet Lauren, I know she had to be an incredible individual because of your love for her, and her love for you. I am so sorry for this loss. Please know that I am praying for comfort and peace for you and for all who love Lauren. May your memories of time spent together carry you through the days ahead. It is said that grief is the price you pay for losing someone you love, and the level of grief you experience is in direct proportion to the depth of the love you have for that person. The grief process doesn't have a map, and we all traverse that path at our own pace. As you move forward in life, please know you'll take Lauren with you as long as you live. She will live on in the good you will do for others when you think of her.

Grant, I am so sorry to hear of Lauren's passing. It was a total shock, I met you at Kevin's wake and promised I would return to Austin to take you, Lauren, and the Wagners for a foot massage. Unfortunately, a serious stroke delayed my travel plans. I made a donation to Metavivor in Lauren's name. Sincerely, Bill from Illinois.

Lauren was a dedicated and well respected physician assistant. I had the pleasure of meeting with her during my visits to her office as a pharmaceutical representative. She had a big heart and radiated a beautiful light. Lauren was always so welcoming and kind to me. Wishing her husband, family, friends, and colleagues strength and love as they grieve this tremendous loss. May Lauren rest in peace

Lauren was a fastincia...beautiful. She was so gracious to everyone, letting everyone talk over one another at gatherings as she sat quietly listening and smiling. Im sure Lauren was wearing wings, even then. My heart goes out to her family and Grant. I pray God wraps his arms around you.
