Laurie Elizabeth Bourdet

September 21, 1979 - September 23, 2024

Our dear daughter, sister, and auntie, Laurie Elizabeth Bourdet, passed away on September 23, 2024. She was born on September 21, 1979, to Lawrence and Donna Bourdet in Eureka, California. After graduating from Montgomery High School, Laurie attended Becoming Independent while also working in the office for Wells Drywall.

Laurie cherished spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed day trips to the ocean and farmers markets, as well as cruises to Alaska, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Her love for all things 80's, especially boy bands, and pop culture was a highlight of her personality. Laurie was always ready for fun, she loved karaoke, dance parties, and bowling. Laurie was also a great pup parent to her adored dogs, Olive and Georgia, and her "grand pup" Bennie.

Born with a congenital heart defect, Tetralogy of Fallot, Laurie was the first baby to undergo angioplasty at Stanford Hospital. This was only the beginning of her many hospital visits for surgeries and countless doctor appointments. Yet, one thing was certain: Laurie was a fighter from the day she was born until her last breath, leaving us with a sweet smile on her face.

Laurie was predeceased by her father, Lawrence "Larry" John Bourdet. She is survived by her mother, Donna Jean Bourdet; her sisters, Aimee Jeanette Wells and Amanda Marie Bourdet; her brother-in-law, Michael Brandon Wells; her beloved "grandkids," her niece and nephews, Jacob Lawrence Wells, Janee Marie (Tanner Joseph) Spears, and River Bourdet Poletti; along with her bonus family, Troy Anthony and Gabriella Rose McClory.

Laurie's love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She brought beauty to everything she did with her happy heart, radiant smile, unfiltered spunky spirit, and unbounded love. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share her friendship, and evoke that same spirit of love in everyone she knew.

Laurie looked forward to reuniting with her daddy in Paradise. She took comfort in the hope and promise of Revelation 21:3-4: "...And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore..."

I don´t actually remember the first day I met Laurie, but I do remember going to her high school graduation. She was always so fiesty and vivacious and occasionally cranky. I remember doing her hair all wrong for work when I stayed with her at her house for a weekend, and remember watching TV with her when I was staying with the family while looking for a house. My last memory of Laurie is when I visited her in the hospital recently and she was asleep. When I sat down next to her she opened one eye and said "Wesley", my name, smiled, and went back to sleep. I will miss you so much, Laurie. You were so much younger than me. I guess I thought you would always be around. I love you

She was just a babe on her mother´s lap or held in her dad´s arms when I first met her. Her smiles and the sparkle in her eyes is something I´ll never forget. The cute 80´s dance moves is a Laurie makes me chuckle moment! Only the sweetest of memories will live on, just as she deserves!!´ Love to the Bourdet girls!

My heart breaks for the loss of your beautiful daughter. I never had the privilege of meeting you both in person, but we were kindred spirits through our parents' group. Seeing photos of Laurie always made me smile. I pray that she is flying high with the angels, and that the good Lord will give you strength & peace during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with you. Joann & Scott Davis, New Jersey

I'm so sorry for your loss. I never met Laurie, but became friends with her mom Donna online, through our shared experience of being mothers of children with Down syndrome. My heart breaks for all who love this sweet, lovely girl. May your memories bring you comfort. Peace and love to you all.
