Lavern "Howard" Schmidt Jr. (1955-2025)

Lavern Howard Schmidt Jr., 69, of Rush Springs, OK, passed away in Oklahoma City on 9/17/2025 following a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Clinton, OK in 1955 to Lavern and Ola Dean Schmidt, and moved to Mustang OK at the age of 8. Howard was active in sports but was mostly proud of his time running track and breaking multiple state records in high school. Howard graduated from Mustang High School in 1975 and went on to work various jobs including over the road truck driver, private investigator, and owning his own business "Rocking H Tractor Services". The things that brought him the most joy were his horse "Sonny", participating in western and cavalry re-enactments and having the opportunity to be an extra in several movies. He enjoyed the outdoors, his guns, shooting, and hunting.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents Lavern and Ola Dean Schmidt, and his brother Gregory Schmidt. He is survived by his daughters Destiny Hayden of Bloomington MN, and Tiffany Dyer and husband Monty Dyer of Newcastle, OK, his sister Lori Burgess of Los Angeles, CA, and 3 grandchildren Phillip, Gracie, and Allie Dyer, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Howards wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread "somewhere pretty". There will not be a service per his request.
