March 2 1937-July 29 2023

Lawrence Lee Amrose, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Reno NV on July 29, 2023. Lee was born on March 2, 1937 in Plainfield, New Jersey, the son of Lawrence James Amrose and Claire Alice Huff. He loved the outdoors and spent his early years fishing and hunting. He graduated from North Plainfield High School and after graduation entered the Air Force serving honorably for 23 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country in Intelligence with the 7th S.O.S. in Rhein Main and Ramstein Germany. He returned with his family to the United States in 1974 and was stationed at Lowry AFB in Aurora, Colorado where he retired from the Air Force in 1978 with the rank of Master Sergeant.

An avid fly fisherman, Lee was never happier than when he was landing a big striper at San Luis Reservoir or drifting a fly down a stream in Yosemite or Yellowstone National Parks. Lee loved sharing his passion for fly fishing and over the years taught many the joys of fly fishing including nuns, politicians and sports figures. He was also a wonderful photographer taking pictures of the wildlife he encountered on his fly fishing trips.

Lee was preceded in death by his first wife, Eda Amrose, his daughter Deise and her husband David Nagle and his sister Judy Mashburn. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Amrose, daughter Patricia and her husband Kurt Snider, grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece and nephews.

A Celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.

My dear Uncle Lee, the handsomest man in the room, you gave me away at my wedding. All the ladies were gawking and trying to get close to you. You were a real hero, I prayed every night you would return home safely when overseas. You were an original tough guy! I miss you already.

Dad, Thank you so much for all the wonderful things you have taught me, and just for being my dad. Your memory will be held forever close in my heart. Hug mom and Deise, and give husher a big scratch behind the ears for me. This isn't good bye dad, one day I will see you again. I love you dad, always and forever.
