Lawrence Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 22 to Feb. 24, 2023.
Lawrence (Larry) Dean Anderson Jr. passed into eternity on February 7, 2023, at the age of 47.

Larry, who was currently living in Gibbonsville, ID was born on March 22, 1975 in Whitefish, MT to Lawrence Dean Anderson Sr. and Jera Renee Mason. A carpenter and hunting guide by trade, Larry loved everything outdoors. On May 11, 1998, Larry welcomed to the world his beloved son, Bryer Dean Anderson. He met his wife, Jamie, in 2002, and the couple married on January 29, 2005. Together, they raised Bryer and many hounds.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman and hunting and fishing filled most of his time both professionally as a licensed Montana Guide and recreationally as well. He loved everything from bugling bulls in September to his pack of hounds roaring on a bear tree in July, and everything in between. Larry was well known nationally as a breeder and trainer of Bluetick Hounds that he hunted black bear, bobcat, and mountain lion with. When he met his wife Jamie in 2002, they spent their lives together hunting and enjoying the outdoors. They devoted most of their time to raising and training their Bluetick hounds. It was a true labor of love for them. Larry and Jamie moved to Gibbonsville, ID in 2020. He fell in love with the area and everything it had to offer. Larry was an amazing human to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He truly never met a stranger. Best said by one of his friends, "If you met Larry once, you knew him forever. That's just the kind of guy he was."

Larry is survived by his wife Jamie (Roberts) Anderson from Kalispell, MT and residing in Gibbonsville, ID and son Bryer Anderson of Dillon, MT. Sisters Tarsha (Anderson) Wohlschlegel, Misty Anderson, Kimisha (Schwegel) Proulx and brother Jeramie Schwegel, all of Kalispell, MT. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews that he adored as well.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Lawrence Dean Anderson Sr., Mother Jera R Schwegel and Stepfather Kim D. Schwegel.

In honor of Larry: He would have wanted to continue to preserve & protect the Houndsman heritage and way of life. Take a kid (or someone new and interested) hunting; Answer questions, share our sport & your experiences as they are our future.

Larry was one of the finest men I have ever known. So knowledgeable, yet humble and so eager and willing to share his time and knowledge with someone who needed a little help. I will be forever grateful for his friendship and the time we spent together.

Larry was the kindest most gentle man around. Not only was he an avid hunter and fisherman but he was an amazing husband, father, and brother. Larry was not only my brother but my friend. He was always there when I needed him. He was happy to answer no matter what time it was or what the conversation was about. He was not afraid to laugh, joke, and even cry if it was warranted. He loved his wife and son more then could ever be expressed. His family and his hounds were his world. I will forever hold our conversations close. I miss you Larry. Love always, your sister

Larry was a great mentor and friend to me. Conversations with Larry were always special, no matter how long the time was in between them, it always seemed like you just talked to him the day before. He always wanted to know the details and story behind the conservation, specially if it had to do with a blue dog. I will miss those talks with him and I will cherish the memories that I had with him in the woods. I know he is still walking through the woods after his dogs looking for the next tree. Rest in Peace, Larry

The time I spent with Jamie and Larry are the moments that I will always cherish. To experience their friendships and hospitality in the mountains running hounds will always be some of life's finest memories for me. A finer man and friend there never was and a true hounds man.
