BALDWIN PARK, Fla. - Lawrence G. Blasik MD passed away Thursday,July 5, 2018 after a long illness. Dr. Blasik, a practicing Dermatologist for over 30 years was beloved by his family, colleagues and his patients.

He also leaves grandchildren Theren and Aiden Leslie, Matthew and Mia Blasik and newest addition Theodore Blasik.

Lawrence was pre-deceased by his son Scott Blasik.

Educated at Valparaiso University and the University of Illinois College Of Medicine, Dr. Blasik was an intern and resident at Hartford Hospital certified in internal medicine. Following his medical degree Dr. Blasik served in the U.S. Air Force with posts as the bomber support physician at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Mich. and the staff internist and Chief Physician of Intensive Care at Pease AFB in Portsmouth, N.H.

After honorable discharge from the Air Force, Dr. Blasik was accepted into the dermatology program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical center where he was Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor of Dermatology.

Dr. Blasik settled in the seacoast of New Hampshire and established a thriving private practice for 25 years. During that time he served as President of the New Hampshire Society of Dermatology and President of the New England Dermatological Society. He spent most of those years as a staff dermatology consult at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H. but also was a part time clinical professor at Tufts, New England Medical Center and helped establish the dermatology clinic at Lahey Clinic North in Peabody, Mass.

Lawrence left the seacoast to establish Summit Dermatology and Laser Center in Brunswick, Ga. from 2004 to 2013. His last move was to Florida where Dr. Blasik met his wife and helped establish Blue Ocean Dermatology in Port Orange and Winter Park. He spent his final years continuing his passion for seeing patients and teaching medicine, assisting in five surgeries on his final day.

Dr. Blasik found time for coaching little league, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and his favorite recreation SCUBA. He was a Dive Master and avid under water photographer.

Blaze was fiercely independent, a brilliant clinician, voracious reader, lover of history and genealogy and most importantly passionate about medicine. He passed still doing what he loved and will be missed by his wife and family.

A small private ceremony will be held this summer to honor his memory at his favorite spot on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers the family asks you donate in honor of Dr. Blasik to the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth or the charity of your choice.

Out sympathy to his family and staff. My husband and I were patients of Dr Blasik for several years and very happy with his care. He was a very caring man and we are richer for having known and for having been treated by him.

I am so sad to hear of Larry's passing. While in Dover, he was my doctor for many years. I highly respected him as a doctor and a friend. We would have many chats and good laughs in his office after my exam. I remember my daughter was home from college for a few days vacation and she had something suspicious on her back. I called him and despite his tight schedule he managed to fit her in AND he never charged me! I was so grateful for that.
He was a fine man. My thoughts and prayers are extended to his family and many friends.
