Lawrence Bowman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 9, 2021.
Lawrence Edward Bowman (Morganton) born 9-8-1952 entered into heaven on January 9, 2021. A loving son, father grandfather, and brother; Lawrence served his country faithfully as E-4 specialist in the United States Army with the First Infantry Division. Lawrence spent one year in Vietnam as an intelligence trained radio operator intercepting Morse Code. Having a servant's heart, Lawrence enjoyed serving with the congregation at Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking meals, visiting shut-ins, and playing his guitar. Lawrence was also instrumental in facilitating a Celebrate Recovery program, he always looked for the best in others and was self-sacrificial in his efforts to help others. Out of all his accomplishments, his children were his crown jewel in life- he was so proud of each of them, and outside of his relationship with God he treasured them most in life. Preceded in death by his father Charlie, those waiting to see him again include his mother: Annie Wiseman Bowman, daughter Julie Chapman (Glenn), son Keith Bowman (Tess), son Bobby Bowman (Starr-Nell). Grandchildren: Colten (Abby), Dax, Peyton (Cailey), Sydney, Larkin, Mia, Madeline, Sarah (Logan) Berklee and great grandchild Winlynn. Siblings: brother Allen Bowman (Beverly), sister Debbie Biddix (Ted), sister Phyllis Gragg (Donnie)- numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Zion Baptist Church on Pea Ridge Road in Morganton. The funeral will be directly following with a private family burial. In lieu of flowers the family requests you complete a random act of kindness in Lawrence's honor, take a shut-in or widow a meal, or make a monetary donation to Zion Baptist Church as a memorial.
