LAWRENCE CAMILLI Obituary

Published by Philadelphia Inquirer/Philadelphia Daily News from May 9 to May 10, 2018.
CAMILLI
LAWRENCE

Passed away peacefully on May 5, 2018 after a long, hard-fought battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 45.
He is survived by his wife Danielle, and their large extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dorothy (Benckert) and Lawrence P. Camilli, of Philadelphia.
Larry was a gentle giant toppled by a horrible, cruel disease. He was raised in South Philly and loved the "old neighborhood" and his friends there. He was a scrappy, smart kid who never had it easy but through hard work and a little "Italian charm" made his way.
He loved the Wildwood boardwalk, a good poker game and Philly sports. He had an impressive movie and music collection. He was a worthy chess opponent and an animal lover. His meatballs and hot tea were legendary. He loved superheroes, and was by nature a protector. He always rooted for the underdog.
Larry was a proud of his career in auto finance, where he was a skilled negotiator.
He always had a story tell and a laugh to share. Larry was a loving husband, an incredible son, an amazing friend, a fun-loving uncle, brother-in-law, nephew and cousin, and those whom he loved were among the luckiest.
For more than 10 years, he fought the devastating effects of MS. Now, his family takes comfort that he can rest and be free of limitations like the superhero he was.
Relatives and friends are invited to call for visitation followed by a memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 10th from 6 to 8 P.M. at JAMES J. DOUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Interment will be held privately.

I came across this obit and his face looked familiar. As I read on, there were some things that stuck out to me..
For one my nick name is Meatball, and it's said he was known for them, haha. Secondly,I've been a volunteer with BIKE MS for several years as a safety rover, so I thought was it there that I may have seen him or..maybe it locally as we're from the same area. Whatever the case I see 1st hand what some people living with MS go through and yet I see them on these rides, saying screw you MS!. There's no doubt in my mind, from reading about him, he was this type of person.

With all due respect, I'd like to put Larry's name on my volunteer shirt this year as a way to pay my respects to him.
I want to wish upon his family and friend my most sincere condolences for you loss.

Sincerely,
Dan "Meatball" Rutz

RIP, Larry. Im in shock just as much as everyone else. I know its been a while since I last saw you, but Ive known you for around 25 years. We had some really fun times playing Poker at Berts house with Moses and the gang. We used to talk about music all the time. I even remember when you bought your first guitar. A Jackson Kelly because you loved Marty Friedman of Megadeth. Im sorry this happened to you and it just doesnt seem possible for such a nice guy to die so young. Rest easy, my friend.
