BELCHERTOWN - Lawrence "Larry" J. Gonnello, 86, died Thursday, March 20 in Wllimantic, Connecticut. Born October 29, 1916 in Springfield he settled in Belchertown in the late 1950's. Larry retired from the American Bosch Division of United Technologies in 1980. He owned and operated a number of businesses in Springfield over the years, including a supermarket and variety store on Plainfield St. He was the co-owner of the Rosetta Venetian Blind Company with his brother, Robert. In his later years, Larry was an inventor and was awarded seven patents. He was the son of the late Charles and Josephine (Roberti) Gonnello. His wife, the late Rose (Mercolino) Gonnello, died in 1956. Lawrence leaves his daughter, Nancy Toomey and her husband Kevin of Windham, Connecticut; two brothers, Charles Gonnello of Osprey, Florida and Edward Gonnello of Agawam; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Gonnello. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass Saturday morning, March 29 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made to Belchertown Senior Center, Meals on Wheels Program, 60 State St., Belchertown, MA 01007. Tazzini Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
