Lawrence Labowitz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 23, 2024.
Lawrence "Larry" Labowitz, aged 73, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Born on December 5, 1950, in Philadelphia, Larry was a beloved figure known for his charisma, charm, and athleticism.

Larry attended Bala Cynwyd Middle School and graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1969. He furthered his education at Pierce Junior College where he played soccer. Along his side every step of the way was his identical twin brother Lloyd. The two were a pair to be reckoned and led many victories in soccer, lacrosse, and basketball. After college he reconnected with Linda who he had originally met at Lower Merion High School where they went on one single date. Years later as fate would have it, they got married and would be celebrating 40 years of marriage next month. Professionally, Larry was a talented landscaper, affectionately known as Mr. Fix It by his clients and family. He was skilled in various trades, especially noted for his meticulous care in painting and tending to both indoor and outdoor plants.

An avid sports enthusiast, Larry enjoyed playing sports and watching his children Max and Emily throughout the years. He was also a passionate fan of watching sports, particularly admiring Tom Brady. Larry's hobbies included fishing, antiquing, and frequenting garage sales. Linda and Larry spent every weekend and the occasional week day together hitting every garage sale in and around the mainline. Larry loved dogs and especially adored the many pugs they had together as a family. A culinary aficionado, he delighted in cooking all sorts of dishes, with meatloaf and steaks being his specialties. Every summer, he cherished spending two weeks in Avalon, New Jersey, creating lasting memories with his family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Labowitz; son, Max Labowitz; daughter, Emily Moore; daughter-in-law, Kelly Ketchersid; son-in-law, Chuck Moore; brother, Lloyd Labowitz; sister-in-law, Kathy Labowitz; nieces, Kelly Labowitz Collins and Jennie Labowitz; and grandchildren, Love Moore, Chance Moore, and step-granddaughter, Chyna Moore. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Louis Labowitz, and his parents, Cora May and Aaron Labowitz.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, at Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, with a visitation from 11 am to 12 pm, followed by a service from 12 pm to 12:30 pm. The burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Afterwards, family and friends are invited to gather for a lunch at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant in Ardmore, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry's memory can be made to the SPCA of Montgomery County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for unwanted, lost, and abused domestic animals. Donations can be made through their website at [SPCA of Montgomery County](https://montgomerycountyspca.org/).

Larry and Lloyd were another pair of twins that my twin brother Jeffrey and I grew up with. We shared that common bond.

May your memory be a blessing.
