Lawrence "Larry" Leroy Pierce

Lawrence Leroy Pierce "Larry" of Wakefield MA, age 80 passed away peacefully on Saturday November 18, 2017 at Brigham and Women's Hospital with his loving family by his side. Larry was born on April 13, 1937 in Rockland, Maine. The son of the late Leroy Vernon Pierce and Albra Frances Stone Pierce. Larry was the beloved husband of Janice Lever (Preshong) Pierce for 35 years. He was the loving father of Michael Pierce and his wife Karen of Wakefield, Linda McCarthy and her husband John of Norwood, David Pierce and his wife Mary of Salem, Robert Pierce and his wife Mary of Saugus, Julie Dortona and her partner Robert Dubois of Salem, NH, Jeanine Ward and her partner Ronald Small of Malden, John Lever and his partner Frank Longo of Wakefield and Woburn. He was also the adored Grandfather of 15, Great Grandfather of 10 and known for his generosity, compassion, love and open door for extended family and friends. During his life, Larry was a talented carpenter, carefully trained as a young man by his father who was an experienced builder. He was the "go to" guy for any home remodel in his own homes in Melrose and Wakefield and wherever the call came from, Larry/Dad/Papa was always happy to help. He has left his mark on many a beautiful home. Larry was employed by Boston Edison for more than 35 years, retiring in 1998. He then went to work with a friend (Bill Asaro) doing what they both did best until finally retiring in 2010. He then spent his days and nights enjoying time with his wife Janice and family. He loved dining out at local restaurants, enjoying Lake Quannapowitt views, a little lottery play and a mischievous puff from the forbidden vapor cigarette when he thought no one saw. There are no words to express how very missed Larry will be. A quiet man with a huge heart, a kind soul and a legacy of goodness and love. Visitations for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale, Ave., Wakefield on Sunday from 11-1:30pm. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home will begin at 1:30pm.
