Larry was a wonderful, teacher, guide, mentor and friend. Tricia, Kate, Rebecca, Shaun and Larry also gave me a home away from home. Words are inadequate for me to express my feelings. I will treasure the fond memories, always.

To Larry's daughters and family, please accept my deepest sympathy at your loss. I grew up in Newburgh Ont., another small hamlet not far from Roblin. My Mother and your grandmother were friends and we spent many wonderful times at the cottage on Beaver Lake. Our favorite thing to do as kids was play 'cowboys and Indians" while running around the cottage wearing holsters and cap guns. Larry despite the crutches could spot you first, drop the crutches, fire first and win the game. Later on in high school, when he showed up, he would sit at the back of botany class which he hated, and write me short stories delivering them by paper plane to my desk. They were always off the wall and hilarious! i would look back and there he would be with that beautiful smile looking back.
Thats how I remember him now, that warm beautiful smile. He always touched my heart.

Sincerely, Susan (nee Milsap) Ramsay

I worked for Larry in the mid-70s and mid-80s. His kindness, encouragement, and mischievous sense of humour left me with many happy memories, and I am very sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends.

My deepest sympathies to Larry's family. He was by far the best teacher I ever had and a friend that sadly I did not see enough of.

Dr. Pratt was willing to take on a wholly unproven graduate research assistant, and spend time teaching me what I was doing wrong, and why it was wrong. I learned from him whenever we met. I also laughed a lot with him.

He was a teacher, and I am grateful to have known him.

Rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to you at this time.

This is truly sad news; a great loss. My sincere condolences to the family.

It was years since I had seen Larry, but I value the time I spent with him. He was indeed brilliant, one of the most important thinkers in Canadian history, and someone whose work will continue to inspire generations to come - Trevor
