Dr. Lawrence Verner "Larry" Puckett

Dr Puckett treated students with a level of respect that was rare. Whether or not we deserved it, he approached and interacted with us without hierarchy, simply as fellow humans. (Steve Wilkes, you're in the same camp). Years later, I was able to understand and reflect on this Puckett-phenomenon and the impact it had on the adult I finally became. I regret that I never found the opportunity to describe this and thank him for shaping me in this way until learning of his passing. Dr Puckett, above chemistry and guitars, this humanistic aspect of the education you gave to so many of us will live on powerfully and exponentially in the way we treat our peers and the next generation of humanity. I am so grateful to you.

I was blessed to not only have you as my chemistry teacher, but through the years, to come to call you friend. You were one of the best in both categories and will be missed....until we see each other again....

Oh, how we will miss you, Larry! I'm glad we could have many "Olive Garden Reunions" together, and I will also remember our teaching days at HPHS. Go, Guitar Club! Thanks to you, Jerry, and Steve for the fun musical performances of Jerry, "Hairy," and Larry! I send my condolences and love to your family. Casey Fisher

Larry was a gifted and genuine person, with a great sense of humor. Those who knew him were richer for the experience. May God Bless Myra, Paul, Sara, Martha, and all of you whom Larry held dear.

Best bud - so happy we had a visit at Clements last month - you will be so missed - HPHS will never be the same. My prayers for your family and lets all remember the good times - of which are too numerous to mention here. My heartfelt sympathy for all.

Rest In Peace my dear dear friend!! We went through a lot together and I just can't imagine this world without you!!! I will miss getting my Thanksgiving and Christmas cards but I am so thankful for the CD'S you sent to me!! You were a very precious soul and loved by all!!!

We had fun working together on construction crews for Don Hill during a couple of summers when we were in high school and fishing together later in life. He was masterful in the use of a flyrod. He will be missed.

Prayers for your family. Our memories are certainly vivid because Larry was such a great life force on all who knew him. Until we meet again...

One of the Best Teachers I have ever encountered.. A great loss to many of us.. Reconnected a few years ago at a MHS Class party.. thanks for all the memories. Play on in that Heavenly Band..We will miss you. Prayers for all the family.

Collectively without a doubt, one of the most memorable teachers I ever had. Praying for the Peace that passes all understanding for his family.
