Lawrence "Larry" Schelzi, age 65, of Lynnfield, formerly of Woburn, was with his family, surrounded with love, when he peacefully passed on February 2, 2022. Born and raised in Woburn, Massachusetts, Larry was the son of Emma (DeMonico) Schelzi and the late Rocco Schelzi of Woburn. In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah (Desautels) Schelzi, his three loving daughters: Allison Schelzi of Lynnfield, Emily Young and her husband Alexander of Reading, and Jillian Schelzi of Charlestown. He was a doting "Papa" to his five grandchildren: Logan and Peyton MacNichol, and Avery, Emma and Blake Young. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael, Sandra, Mark, David, and James Schelzi, his sister Robin Miller, and their respective spouses. "Uncle Lenny" also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was loved and will be missed, as well, by many friends and extended family members. Following his education, Larry went into the family business – Wakefield Concrete – and then was the owner/operator of Schell Transportation, a subdivision of Wakefield Concrete. He always said, "there is nothing I can't start", and many in the construction world knew that to be true. Larry continued his love for the construction industry throughout his entire life. Larry met his wife, Debbie, on a blind date, and they were married shortly after. They settled in Lynnfield where they took great joy in raising their three daughters. They later enjoyed having their five grandchildren over to play and swim. Larry had a multitude of interests. Unbeknownst to many, he was an avid reader and looked forward to reading with his wife and daughters. Larry spent his winters skiing and snowmobiling with his family in Killington, Vermont. He was also an experienced motorcycle enthusiast and was a member of the international motorcycle group, Hamsters USA. He was the shining light in the lives of so many. He was selfless, generous to a fault, and the first to help you or a stranger out. He was also thoughtful, kind, and charmed all those around him with his witty sense of humor. He will be immensely missed by all. "Love to stay, gotta go!" His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 851 Main Street, Woburn, MA. A mask is required at the church. Family and friends are invited to attend. A private burial will take place at Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn at a later date. Arrangements in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lawrence Schelzi's name to: Lifescape, [email protected], 2011 W. 26th Street, Suite 201, Sioux Falls, SD 57105. Great men build big affections from people they did not even know, but their passion was so that touched their thoughts.
In honour of the love for construction I share.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear the news about my cousin Larry. I was just on the lake in Maine, where I will remember him best for all the volleyball games, water skiing - including pyramids, his jet-ski and countless barbeques. He was always very generous and fun to be around. I am grateful for the times shared and the memories made. They will forever live on in our hearts. God Bless.

Bought my horse from this lovely family. Larry taught me how to correctly sweep up the aisle after I picked hooves when I was around 9. Love to the Schelzi family ❤ Rest in beautiful peace, Larry❤
