Lori,
By coincidence, I happened upon this notice today. While student-teaching with me, you spoke of your father with love and great respect.
I say he raised a wonderful daughter.
May happy memories comfort you now.

Dear Priscilla, Jim, Tim, Lori, Gerry and the rest of the family: I just heard about Larry's death. I am so sorry I missed the services and seeing each of you in person. I know how much each of you will dearly miss him. For countless years he was truly one of my favorite people in the college. There was no more genuine, respectful or nicer man. So many hours we spent together, working on various projects and activities; so much so, I can easily recall how much each of you meant to him. So many stories, so many smiles and so much laughter. His lanky stance with one booted foot stuck out kinda supporting him while he chatted away, the silver belly hat, a quick smile and warm handshake - all memorable to me. It was easy to make him blush and laugh. Sometimes quick to comment, usually thoughtful and careful with everyone, Larry was always humble - a trait I admired. My heart breaks for each of you. Keep his stories alive forever. Many hugs to each of you, your children and wives and warmest of hugs to you from here. I will miss Larry for always. Much love, Shanon Easterday

As Larry's "littlest" sister, I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the wonderful words, the remembrances, the stories, the laughter and the tears your words have brought to us.
Although every 'little sister' thinks her brother is the very BEST, to see him through your eyes, your stories, has brought an even stronger love for this most lovely man - from the respect and honor his students and associates have shown here, to the funny stories and the beautiful words that painted the pictures in my mind of the Kindergarten Cowboy with the little ones "swinging and bubbling around his long legs" - to the stories about his humor, his thoughts, his dreams and his love of animals and nature..you all have given us a lasting gift of YOUR words..and we, Larry's sisters thank you all..
He was your friend, he was our brother and he will live on in our hearts
forever..

I had never meet Larry but we had corresponded in 2008 when he helped me gather some information for a Field Studies class I taught in Sierra Vista, AZ. He was a great help and I wish I had the opportunity to meet him and get him to speak to my class.

I never actually met Larry but feel like I knew him. His youngest sister, Colleen, is my daughter-in-law. She spoke of him often and also has that Irish storytelling ability. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the family and friends .

I met Larry in the early 1970s when I was a young reporter at the Tucson Citizen. He had an advertising business then, and I worked with his first wife, Jeri, who joined the Citizen when the Sullivan kids were small. I knew Priscilla at Palo Verde High School. One of the photos I took of Larry in the late 70s, in full cowboy gear, was published in Newsday, where I worked in the late 1970s, and seen by half a million readers. He was the authentic cowboy in real jeans and boots illustrating a story about Ralph Lauren faux western wear just hitting the street in New York City. I visited Larry and his family on the reservation and have great photographs of him there, and memories as he showed me all around the Four Corners area. What a wonderful, gentle man. My condolences to his entire family.

Our family knew Larry when he worked on the Navajo Reservation, and later we knew him from his on-going works with 4-H and the University. Larry was a wonderful man. He always had a positive and encouraging word. Our heartfelt sympathy is offered to his family.

To the Sullivan Family, my heart felt condolences. I was very fortunate to meet Mr. Sullivan as young man in the late 70’s through Natural Resources Camp. Larry was a positive influence in my life then, and for years to come.

We had the pleasure of meeting Larry a number of times and he always treated us as family. We appreciated the time he took to show us around and make us feel at home. We only wish we had met him much earlier in our lives. Your Irish cousins in Canada will miss his spirit and love of family.

We could always count on Larry bringing his Sullivan's Suprise for pot luck lunchons while I worked with him in the State 4-H office. His daily stories made going to work a joy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

This picture taken in Arivaca on Thansgiving 2007 is how we will always remember Larry: a man doing what he loves in a place he loves with the woman he loves. An original "Arizona Gothic"... We will miss you Larry!

Larry and I were close friends. We shared my office at the University, and he replaced me when I retired. We worked together, hunted together, camped together, and got stuck in the mud . . . in Larry's jeep.
I never saw Larry get angry; never saw him give up. He always had a good Irish story to tell when things went wrong, and when they went right. He had good advise, especially when it came to drinking beer and Irish whiskey. I will miss him.

Larry was very active in the field of wildlife damage management and was the editor for the National Animal Damage Control Association newsletter "The Probe". Following retirement Larry held the position of Extension Wildlife Damage Management Specialist Emeritus and taught several classes before retiring a second time. I enjoyed working with Larry on wildlife damage management issues and had the privilege to guest lecture in his classes. He was definitely a wealth of knowledge. I deeply regret to hear of his passing.

Larry was a very special colleague but even more importantly, a special friend. In the late 1980's we spent many an hour discussing how we could make Arizona 4H better, no, the best! He was passionate about 4H and the potential he could visualize. Probably one of my most favorite meetings was when we were trying to get Extension Specialists to attend a once-a-month meeting to get information important to them (or, so we thought). Anyway, 4H Shooting Sports was the hot topic at the time and I asked Larry to debate Bunny Epstein on the pros (Larry) and cons (Bunny) of the new sport. Room 317 was packed for a change and the debate was inspiring. Both speakers were eloquent and persuasive. It was one of many of Larry's finest moments. Extension, 4H, County Extension Agents and the State of Arizona will miss him. Especially me. Go with peace Larry.

Uncle Larry lived life to the fullest, and is a true inspiration. I miss him so much, and it has been so hard the past few days, but it is such a comfort to know that he is now with my grandma and grandpa Sullivan, wrapped in their loving arms. He is perfect and pain free in heaven, and he will never be forgotten. I love you, Uncle Larry!!

Oh, Larry and his Sopori workdays! Those were wonderful to behold! Larry, in his cowboy hat, with kindergartners swirling and bubbling around his long legs and boots. He was one of a kind!

My late husband, Woodie Winans, worked with Larry on a number of occasions over the years. I know that Woodie respected Larry's work in Extension; his dedication to the 4H shooting sports program and his work with youth come to mind. Most of all, Woodie and Larry were friends. I'm sorry for your loss and send my best to Larry's family.
