Leola - Lea Elizabeth (Schnaidt) Geffre, 78, died Sunday, Oct. 9, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral: Friday, Oct. 14, 2 p.m., at Leola St. James Lutheran Church, where she was a member for many years. Pastor Erik Swanson will officiate. Burial: Green Mound Cemetery. Viewing: Thursday, 1-7:30 p.m. at Spitzer Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E., Aberdeen and church, Friday, 1 p.m.-2 p.m. Prayer service: Thursday evening, 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Lea was born on Nov. 4, 1926, to Christian and Rosalla Schnaidt at Ashley, N.D. She grew up, attended grade school, married and raised her family in the Leola/Forbes area. Lea married Harold Geffre on Sept. 12, 1948. She leaves seven children: Vickie (Robert) Moser, Leola, Vonnie (Dean) Kalt, Castlewood, Roy (Mary) Geffre, Aberdeen, Ray Geffre, Leola, Debbie (Curtis) Bietz, Rapid City, Julie (Channon) Stange, Hartford, Ron (Pam) Geffre, Watauga, Texas; 19 grandchildren: Shane (Katie) Moser, Kyle (Rochele) Moser, Kent and Karl Moser, Barbi (Jack) Schulte, Kristi Givens, Lisa Kalt, Cory (Tammi) Geffre, Darcy (Paul) Pudwill, Dustin Geffre & Sara, Tara Geffre, Sara, Criston, Andrew, and Breanna Bietz, Lea and Rita Stange, Melissa and Aaron Geffre; 12 great-grandchildren: twins, Kiley and Kody Moser, Alissa and Brittney Casey, Devon, Brendon, Mason, and Maelee Schulte, Drey Givens, Parker and Samantha Geffre, and Michelle Geffre. Also mourning her passing are four brothers: Otto Schnaidt, Albert (Patty) Schnaidt, Aberdeen, Merle (Rose) Schnaidt, Mobridge, Larry (Marie) Schnaidt, Groton; special friend, Judy Wilson, Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Reuben Schnaidt, sister, Adeline Slater, and granddaughter, Cindy (Moser) Casey. Lea loved children; her own, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and the many children she baby-sat over the years. She was a very caring, nurturing, and giving person. Her family was her life. Honorary Casketbearers will be Nickolas Kallas, Amanda Kallas, Douglas Kallas & Lucas Kallas. Casketbearers will be her grandsons: Shane, Kyle, Kent, and Karl Moser; Cory and Dustin Geffre; Criston and Andrew Bietz, and Aaron Geffre.
