Leah K. (Waters) Goodhue died at Melrose Wakefield Hospital after a long illness on Sept. 4th at the age of 79. Leah was born in Boston, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School Class of 1940 and Nashua Memorial School of Nursing in 1943. Leah was a registered nurse at Melrose Wakefield Hospital from 1967-1987, retiring in 1987. She was a lifelong resident of Melrose, a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Mary's Ladies Sodality. She was the wife of the late Richard E. Goodhue. Mother of Kathleen G. Cox & her husband Norman of Seabrook TX, James M. Goodhue of Melrose, Richard E. Goodhue Jr & his wife Susan of Londonderry NH, John A. Goodhue & his wife Debi of Tewksbury, Rona G. Scott & her husband Richard of Wilbraham, Brian F. Goodhue of Melrose and Paul J. Goodhue & his wife Linda of Stoneham. Sister of Arlene Stanton of Melrose and Doreen Clancy of Bradford, VT. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St. Melrose on Sat. Sept 8th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts, Melrose at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 pm. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, 02140.
