Leah McDonough Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 21, 2015.
Leah McDonough Leah Jane Barton McDonough was born in Chambersburg April 9, 1968, and passed away at home on July 14, 2015, in Allison Park, PA. She is survived by her parents, James and Anne Barton of Chambersburg; sisters, Elisabeth Barton (husband, H. Lee Sweeney) of Gainesville, FL and Sarah Trbovic (husband, Nicholas) of Pittsburgh; children, James P. McDonough III and Rebecca Anne McDonough; and partner, Terry Barnett. Leah graduated from CASHS in 1986 and Slippery Rock University in 1991, majoring in kinesiotherapy. At the time of her death, she was employed with UPMC in Pittsburgh. She loved teaching and coaching gymnastics, music, her family and many friends, caring for her gardens, and mostly Jake and Becca. Along with her green thumb and playful sense of humor, she had a huge heart. Friends and family gathered at Pittsburgh Friends Meeting Saturday, July 18th to remember her and share those memories. A Memorial Service is being planned in Chambersburg on September 12th. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established in support of her children: Leah McDonough Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 9103, Pittsburg, PA 15224. Online condolences may be left at D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY Ltd., Pittsburgh: www.dalessandroltd.com.

I am so saddened upon learning of the passing of Leah. She was a beautiful soul both on the inside and the outside. Intelligent, clever, and funny are just a few of the adjectives I could use to describe her. Anyone who encountered her, whether they realized it or not, were blessed in some small way. Leah's beautiful blue eyes and wonderful smile will be sorely missed in this world. To her family and friends I can't begin to comprehend how much you grieve and miss her. I know personally the pain of her loss will not subside for a long time to come. My sincere condolences to Leah's loved ones.

I met Leah in 2012, while in physical therapy. We clicked immediately and we talked all the time about life. I know her to be a BEAUTIFUL AND DETERMINED WOMAN. I can't believe that you're gone, but one thing I do know, is I'll NEVER FORGET YOU, MY FRIEND!!! I MISS YOU!
