STARKS -- Lee "Bob" Robert Reichenbach, 80, of Starks passed away into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Glenridge in Augusta, with his loving family by his side.

He was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Leo and Dorothea Reichenbach.

He was educated in the New York schools.

Lee served in the Marine Corps and served overseas during the Korean War.

He married Anita Hornik at St. Barnabus Lutheran Church in Howard Beach, N.Y., on Dec. 12, 1953.

During his working years, he worked as a machinist and a draftsman. In the late 1980s, he could be seen as the smiling hot dog vendor peddling New York-style hot dogs in Castonguay Square.

He loved raising and training dogs, especially golden retrievers; and he also enjoyed woodworking.

Besides his wife of 55 years, Anita, he is survived by his four children, Lee Ann Gilbert and her husband, Steve, Barbara Ann Reichenbach and her husband, Jim, R. Eric Reichenbach and his wife, Mary, and Robert L. Reichenbach and Gail; one sister, Elaine Poreda and her husband, Paul; one brother, William Reichenbach and his wife, Geri; his grandchildren, Johnathan Reichenbach and his wife, Amy, Jennifer Henderson and her husband, Greg, Christopher Reichenbach, April Reichenbach, and Tiffany Batts and her husband, Brian; four great-grandchildren, Sarah Reichenbach, Emily Reichenbach, Brian Kaleb Batts and Alexis Ann Batts.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the United in Christ Presbyterian Church in Starks, with the Rev. Scott Planting officiating. A time of fellowship with the family will be held in the memorial hall following the service, with food and refreshments provided by the Progressive Club.

The family wishes to thank the nursing and hospice staff at Glenridge, who lovingly cared for him.

Arrangements are under the care of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
