I was sorry to hear of Mr. Van Doren's passing. He was my 6th grade teacher at Summitview and one of the best and nicest teachers I ever had. Then later he was my daughter's teacher at Wilson.

"I will remember Lee as a very kind and gentle man. Lee was my 6th grade teacher at Summitview Elementary. I will always remember his sweet smile, his firm but caring style of teaching and his love of children. I have known Virginia since I was a little girl as she is a special dear friend of my cousin Jeannie. Virginia and Lee - two of the nicest people and a perfect union."
God's Peace,

So many wonderful memories of Lee. He and Virginia became lifelong friends as well as god parents to our two boys. Although Virginia was my 4th grade teacher, I always felt that Lee was as a big a part of my growing as she! He will be missed. Carol Ann (Parker) Webb

My thoughts are with Virginia and her family. Lee was one of the most wonderful people I worked with. He meant so much to me and his students. There are so many people in Yakima and around the world who are better people because of him. I'm sorry that I will miss his funeral as we will be leaving town tomorrow, but know that I will be thinking of Lee and of the many special memories with him at Wilson MS. Yakima has lost a very special gift this week.

Mr. Van Doren was my 5th grade teacher at Whitney Elementary. I would see him now and again over the past 30 plus years and he would always remember me! He was a favorite teacher of mine and when I saw him at Old Country Buffet just a couple months ago, I told him so! He was an awesome teacher and I will miss running into him! My thoughts and prayers go out to his whole family.
