Leif Nelson

Leif N. Nelson, lovingly known to his family and friends as Bubba, age 50, passed away on March 11, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on August 13, 1974, in Memphis, Bubba was a skilled journeyman plumber and carpenter who will be remembered for his unrelenting work ethic, humor, giving nature and unconditional love for his family. He will be greatly missed.

Bubba is survived by his wife, Tonya Malady Nelson of Memphis; his father, Bill Nelson of Grand Junction, Michigan; his daughter, Courtney Powers of Byhalia, Mississippi; and his son, Tyler Nelson of Olive Branch, Mississippi. He also leaves behind his stepdaughters Lacey Malady and Hayley Malady of Memphis. His siblings include brothers Eric Nelson of Memphis and Tom Hernandez of Salt Lake City, Utah; and sisters Misty Nelson of Nevada, Amber Carson of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Crystal Lehman of Mattawan, Michigan, Jade Nelson of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Hailey Hernandez of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bubba was a proud grandfather to Knox Powers, Asher Powers, JD Powers, Dustie Rose Powers,

Jace Hardin, Demi Hardin, and Luna Graham.

He was preceded in death by his mother Patti Lynn Zakour of Covington, Tennessee.

A memorial service to honor Bubba's life will be held on March 25, 2025, at Grace Community Church in Bartlett, Tennessee. The service will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 2018 Bartlett Road (ZIP code 38134).
