Lawrence Leonard "Lenny" Tierney

Lawrence Leonard Tierney, affectionately known as "Lenny," of Rye, NH, formerly of Reading, MA passed away peacefully on June 25th surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).

Born and raised in Lexington, MA, the son of the late Lawrence and Verna (Gaziano) Tierney. He attended Lexington High School and graduated from Northeastern University.

After earning his degree, Lenny began his career in the staffing industry at Technical Aid Corporation. A born entrepreneur Lenny founded his staffing company National Engineering in 1984 followed by Madison Resources, a payroll funding company in 1992.

His career was a reflection of his tireless work ethic, unwavering confidence and steadfast belief that anything was possible. Through his businesses he not only built a legacy but helped others believe in their own potential.

Lenny was larger than life. His humor was quick, his heart was generous, and his presence was magnetic. His charisma and optimism inspired countless people, and he made those around him feel seen, heard and valued. He embraced life with joy and lived it to the fullest, finding special happiness in entertaining and hosting friends and family.

An avid golfer, Lenny loved his time on the course with friends at Abenaqui Country Club in Rye, NH as well as Kensington Golf & Country Club in Naples, FL. He also enjoyed his time at the 19th hole with his many friends!

Above all, Lenny cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; his loving sisters, Joan and Phyllis; his daughter, Kiley and her husband Jesse; his son, Jonathan and wife Brianna, son Tyler and wife Megan and his six grandchildren: Tucker, Finn, Maisy, Walker, Wren, and Lenni.

Lenny will be remembered for his warmth, optimism, and the joy he brought into every room. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on September 4th at St. Theresa Church, 820 Central Road Rye, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Lenny's name to help find a cure for IPF through the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation: https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/PFFTribute/LennyTierney
