Yesterday

There was never a man like Lenny Wilkens. He was a devoted family man, a hero in the world of basketball, a great man who looked out for children, especially the poor who he worked hard to support.
poor.

He devoted his life in the NBA-ever a hero and greatness.
My prayers go out to Marilyn, his children, Leesha,, Randy, and Jamee. He had countless friends and admirers. He rests now in the hands of the God who he loved so much with his dear mother, Henrietta and Father Manion. He didn´t die. He moved on to a new place where he will never suffer again and will continue to help his family from that new place.
I never knew how he came into my life, but I am eternally grateful for the memories and his peace now. We will always miss him and he will not be forgotten. Sister Kathy

As a Japanese American boy growing up in the late 1950s and early 1960s, my father told me, "Watch Lenny Wilkins play on the court . . . he is a master. And off the court, he is a true & honorable gentleman." My father was not lying.

My condolences to the family of Mr. Wilkins.

I played against Lenny for four years in college and always found him to be a great competitor and a great gentleman. Fame and notoriety never went to his head. When I needed help during a fund raiser for the King Center in Atlanta during his time as the Hawks coach, he took my call like an old friend and donated four great Silent Auction items. The world has one less really good guy with his passing.

I, met Mr. Wilkens, in 1994; He, had an office in The CNN Center, where I, also worked. Every morning He, would pass by, and I, would greet Him, "Good Morning, Mr. Wilkens!" He, would smile and wave His hand, hello. This would go on and on, consistently. Finally, one day He, asked My Name, and I, told Him, and He complemented My Smile. I'll, never forget Mr. Wilkens, The Winning, Playing Coach, and A Gentleman." To The Wilkens' Family, And Those Who Loved, Mr. Wilkens: "Whether We Live, Therefore, Or Die, We Are The Lord's."--Romans 14:7-8; In Sincere Empathy, Sympathy, And Love.
