Leo Cota Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 24, 2018.
Leo (Leobardo) Cota passed away at his home April 18,2018.

Leo was born in San Luis Sonora Mexico on July 15,1962 to Jose and Leonor Cota.

He grew up in Roll, Arizona. After graduating from Antelope High School he went to UTI Technical Institute.

Leo worked all his life and could fix anything. He worked as a heavy duty diesel mechanic for Copper Mountain Landfill for the last 15 years.

Leo is survived by his wife, Paula, sons, Samuel and Benjamin: sisters Dora (Hector) and Martha and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Leonor, brothers, Cuco, Raul and Juan.

Leo was a die hard Arizona Cardinals fan. Feel free to wear your cardinal gear or any other team/sport, he loved them all.

Leo leaves behind a legacy of love for his family, friends and his community.

Everyone knew him by his smile, laughter and his kindness. He never hesitated to help anyone and always saw the best in people.

You fought the good fight and showed us what true courage was. Our world is smaller without you in it.

Services will be Friday April 27th at 1 PM at the First Southern Baptist Church in Wellton, Arizona.

I will always treasure times with Leo whether we were playing ball with the the 'Lopers' or hunting. His energy and love of life was certainly contagious and that infectious 'smile' was his trademark. May God provide Paula and his sons with comfort during these difficult times and until we meet again, May God hold hold you in the palm of his hand. Oh Lay Oh Lay Oh Lay Oh Lay!
God Bless and Semper Fidelis!

My favorite memory was one summer at the White Mountains where the "Loper" families took our vacation together for many years. This summer, the men were catching fish in the lake, everyone except Cota. Amber, who was about 5 or 6, joined the men by throwing her line in the water, setting it down, did a few cartwheels, then reeled in her line with a fish on it. Leo saw this, since he hadn't been catching fish, he threw his line in, set it down, attempted a few cartwheels, then reeled in his line - still no fish!!
