Leo Guilbeault Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 4, 2024.
Leo Rene Guilbeault, 76, known affectionately as Dad and Papa, passed away on April 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He leaves a legacy of laughter, love, a dash of deadpan humor, countless rolls of electrical tape, and perfectly flipped crepes.

Born in Manchester on August 15, 1947, he was the son of Leo and Gertrude (Daneau) Guilbeault. As a master electrician and contractor, Leo illuminated countless homes and businesses and there was nothing he couldn't fix with a little ingenuity and the aforementioned electrical tape.

In the kitchen, Leo was quick to offer to cook his family a meal and did so with gusto. However, his cooking revolved around two temperatures: high or off, and he used "all the herbs," both salt and pepper. While his approach may have left a few burnt offerings in its wake, he was a master of the crepe. With a deft flick of the wrist and a dollop of batter, he could perfect delicate, golden crepes that became cherished symbols of Sunday morning bliss forever etched in the hearts of his wife and children.

Leo was not just a master of his craft; he was also the love of his wife Pauline's life. They met during the summer of 1964 at the tender age of 17. They married in 1966 and spent 60 years together, proving that true love only grows stronger with time. Their bond was a shining example of commitment, loyalty, and enduring love.

Beyond his technical prowess and culinary adventures, Leo was cherished for his quick wit, kind soul, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He leaves behind his loving wife Pauline, his three children, Stacie Mason and her husband Blaine of Dallas, TX; Amber Guilbeault and her fiancé Ernesto Burden of Manchester; David Guilbeault and his wife Cristina of Keller, TX; his grandchildren Catherine Mason, Elizabeth Mason, Sophia Brown, Violet Jodoin, Zachary Guilbeault and Everly Guilbeault, his sister Diane Allard of Manchester, nieces and nephews, who will forever treasure memories of his electrifying presence and his perfectly flipped crepes.

Words will never be enough to truly capture the essence of this amazing father, husband, and friend. The light of Leo's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him until we all meet again.

In celebration of Leo's life, a gathering will be held on May 11th in the home of his eldest daughter in Dallas, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org/donate/) in honor of Leo's memory.

Leo was & always will be my sister Pauline's Night In Shining Armor. His love for her only grew as years went by .She was his life...as she was his. He loved Pauline & their Children more than life itself. That kind of Love lives forever through Pauline and their Children

I met Pauline and Leo in 2006 when I first moved to Texas. I was so touched by their relationship, learning that their love started while still in school! Leo and Pauline have such an impressive and well-accomplished family. His quiet sense of humor and helpful hand in keeping his home beautiful reflect his love of life...Leo is remembered as a kind soul and a very good man!

I first met Leo at the Brunette family reunion in 1988. I quickly realized what a wonderful man Leo was. We loved having Leo and his family over and visiting him in NH. I quickly grew fond of him and the entire family, asking him to be my daughter´s Godfather. I saw he was such an amazing husband and father. I´m so happy that he and Pauline shared a wonderful life filled with great love. Unfortunately, we lost touch in later years, which is so regrettable for me. RIP Leo!

I met Leo at their home in Double Oaks, TX. He was funny and only a northerner would appreciated his New England´s accent. May the love and grace of God continued to be a blessing in your life Pauline.
