News Death Notice

KNIGHT, Jr., Leo E. age 69, of Ohio and Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014. He was born on April 22, 1945 in Dayton, OH to the late Leo Sr. and Anna (Seitz) Knight. Leo graduated from Chaminade High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Dayton. Leo's career spanned close to 40 years, starting out as a CPA in public accounting and then spending over 30 years as a mortgage banking executive. For over 20 years, Leo was the Chairman and CEO of the National City Mortgage Company, one of the largest companies in the US. He was a past president of the Ohio Mortgage Bankers' Association and a highly respected executive within the National Mortgage Bankers' Association. He was a current member of the Board of Directors for the Old Republic International Corporation, headquartered in Chicago, IL. Leo was a great leader of people as evidenced by the many friendships he made over his career. Leo was devoted to the Dayton community, serving in leadership roles on 16 volunteer boards and agencies. He is preceded in death by his sister, Janice Knight and brother, Charles Knight. Leo is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Margo (Sheppard); 4 children, Kimberly (Kevin) Hurst, Kevin (Shari) Knight, Christopher (Tori) Knight, and Todd Knight; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Knight, Patricia Wolfe, Barbara Knight, and Anne Knight; brothers, James and John Knight; as well as many nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 5520 Far Hills Ave, Kettering. Burial will follow at David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dayton Foundation, 40 N Main St., Suite 500, Dayton, OH 45423 or to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.routsong.com.
