Leo Martonosi Jr.

We lived on valley view Avenue, I always went to his house

It was really hard to believe Leo had passed away. He was just one of those ppl you think will live forever. I had known Leo more than half my life. I remember the day Helen was tragically killed. I remember Leo from the Store/Station. I lived just a couple houses down. I remember seeing him everyday in his cowboy hat walking to and from work and getting his daily walk in. My daughter used to ride her bike down to the store to air up her bike tires and say good morning to her friend Leo. He always gave her a ice cream stick because she never missed a day checking in with him. Always pleasant, always helpful. You are missed with good memories Leo. I pray Helen was at the Gate waiting for you. RIP. Thank you for your Military Service and your never ending sportsmanship.

I just saw Leo's Obit on TV. I almost fell outta my chair! I remember Leo from many years back when he and Helen had the Store on M-30/M-61. I used to always stop there with my Dad, RIP Maurice "Mac" McKim for gas and Leo always brought me out a ice cream stick :). Later after I had my daughter Heather McKim, he did the same for her. Heather would ride her bike down to Leos every day just to say hi. We lived on Lakeview Dr. then. The day Helen was struck on her bike and died was such a heartbreak. I remember seeing Leo always walking wherever he went, smiling, waving. No one was a stranger because of the Store. 94...God love him, he lived a long productive life. I sincerely pray he has been reunited with Helen in Heaven.

Leo Martonosi Sr. and Anna were my mother"s (anne) aunt and uncle. Leo II was such a great guy; so funny, kind and generous. All of my siblings (Tommy, Karen, Gary, Craig, Steve) and I loved our "second" family in Gladwin. So many wonderful memories with such special cousins and with Aunt Anna & Uncle Leo. We were so blessed to be able to spend some of our summer vacations with them and with all of their family. The whole Martonosi family holds such a special place in all of our hearts!

I worked for Leo and Helen in the1970's and was their neighbor for years. When you worked for them they treated you like you were part of their family. This community has truly lost one of it's kindest and most generous community members with Leo's passing. From raising money for various charities like Polio, to plowing peoples driveways for free to lending people money, gas or groceries I have never known a more giving person. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. His positive attitude was contagious. I have always looked up to Leo as a role model. I regret that I was not able to visit him more often. I remember as a child, going to "Leo's Place" with my parents for gas or a loaf of bread.It was always a treat. Leo's friendly manner always made you feel welcome and at home. Quite often other family members would be there, as it was truly a family business. I remember Helen, Nicky running his tricycle into me when he was young and Tina at about three. I was very sad when the property was sold and will always remember fondly that portion of my childhood and later dating "Little Leo".

Always a smile and a joke, would go out of his way for a stranger. Was a special friend and influence to our family. I will miss his holiday phone calls. He will be remembered as the kind of person we all should attain to be. RIP Leo, you will be remembered.

I remember Leo when bringing in the baseball scores of the Mickie Mantle and Connie Mack leagues for my dad for many years in the 60's and 70's and early 80's. In 1994 I had to help dress Leo and a one of Tulip time guests, George Blaha for their walk in the Tulip time parade. Leo was always one for jokes and reminiscing over sports and other major events. He will be missed but no more pain and suffering. Heaven gained another angel .

HE WAS A GREAT MAN!!! HE WAS A BLESSING TO ME AND MY HUSBAND WHO ALSO IS IN HEAVEN. I WILL MISS HIM SOOO MUCH!!!
