Published by Legacy Remembers from May 20 to May 21, 2009.
GROVES , Leon Maxwell July 6, 1965 - May 12, 2009 At the age of 43 and after a twenty-three-month battle with cancer, Leon passed away on May 12, 2009. Leon LIVED with great courage and dignity. He is survived by his best friends Tracey, Levy (Sarah) and Riley. Leon was born in Calgary, Alberta after his twin brother on July 6, 1965. He was raised by parents La Ree and Charles of Rocky Mountain House along with siblings Brian of Breton, Carol and Joe Huson of Rocky Mountain House, Sandra of Red Deer, Les and Marilyn of Vulcan. He was brother-in-law to Cheryl of Claresholm, Valerie of Calgary, Charles Jr. and Bonnie of Cranbrook, BC and son-in-law of Charles Tull Sr. of Wasa Lake, BC. Most recently Leon was able to locate his birth-mother Diane (George) Favel of Calgary and Aunt June Reiger of Melville, Saskatchewan. Leon was very lucky to have numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He will always be that special Uncle to all his nephews and nieces. Leon has owned and operated Leon's Janitorial Service & Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Services since 1985 in Claresholm until his passing. His greatest love was to be in the hills hunting or fishing, and was a member, if not life member, of many of these clubs. Leon's newest passion was taking to the highway on his Harley, always looking forward...never back. A Celebration of Leon's Life will be held at the Claresholm Community Centre (59 Avenue and 8 Street West, Claresholm) on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Porcupine Hills Wildlife Association c/o Aldo Raffin, Box 117, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0 or to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, Radiation Therapy, 960 - 19 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.
