Leon Messner Obituary
(Caledonia, MN) Leon L. Messner, 76, of Caledonia, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
Leon was born May 27, 1941, in Rochester, MN to Lawrence and Leona (Riess) Messner. He graduated from Eyota High School and he worked for MN DOT until his retirement. Leon was united in marriage to Darlyne Nelson September 29, 1961. She preceded him in death January 10, 1992. He spent many hours helping on the family farm and enjoyed Sunday rides with his family. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by 3 children, Gary (Nancy) Messner, LeeAnn (Curtis) Hermanson, and Brent (Kelly) Messner; 7 grandchildren, Cory (Anna) and Cassy (Dan) Messner, Levi and Kelsey Hermanson, Westley, Walker, and Wyatt Spier; a great granddaughter, Ettie Leona Messner; a sister, Linda (Charlie) Lemke; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 am, Monday, March 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven Meyer will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 3-6 pm Sunday, at McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
