Leon Navarro Spears Jr.

Although Mr Leon Spears passed away on August 10, 2010, I did not learn of his passing until 2011 this past July. On a day in July, I attempted to contact Mr. Spears at his home and left a message to confer with him about recertification of my Life, Health, Property & Casualty licenses. I needed to recertify before October 7, 2011. Although I reached his residence answering machine, it seemed out of the ordinary that I did not hear Mr. Spears voice. Given his popularity among insurance professionals and students, I checked around and ultimately learned of Mr. Spears passing. I was so saddened that I learned so late.

In the 1999 Fall Semester @ Prince Georges Community College, I enrolled in Mr. Spears Property and Casualty class. His class spurred my success in passing the Property & Casualty examination on my first attempt.

What a wonderful instructor. Subsequently, I saw Mr. Spears periodically over the next 10 years. I last spoke to him in March 2010. Although I was professionally employed in another field, he always encouraged me to stay current with insurance. I followed his advice and worked part-time in life insurance.

Since learning of Mr. Spears' passing, I have informed other people who were blessed to have known him. He will be missed. My God continue to bless his family

Dearest Myschelle, Thank you for your wonderful support, care, friendship and model of what is most important in life-the reflection of God's love and His faithfulness. Always know, His love is perfect. He will be faithful to you through the times of sorrow. We miss Leon. We pray that God's love, power and strength be multipled in your life and knowing that we care deeply bring comfort.

Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and role model to me for the last 12 years. Although I never met your husband, I feel the pain of your loss through you.
